Linh POV:
"Raise that leg a little higher, perfect!" Selene, who was the best dancer in our group, instructed me like a leader. As usual, we started off from the basics, flexibility. Although we didn't focus on ballet, we always had to ensure that our bodies were soft and bendable, so that our muscles would not be strained when we perform difficult choreography.
Right now, I was doing leg stretches, grabbing the middle of my soft satin shoe and lifting my leg up behind me as high as it could get, which was usually 180 degrees with my other straightened leg.
"Alright, let's do some walkovers. You know the routine, Linh." Selene took out a stopwatch.
I nodded lightly, tying up my hair into a tall ponytail before launching myself forward, placing my hands on the ground to get a firm grip, and kicking my legs in front over my head until I was back to my initial standing position. (front walkover)
After I landed, I wasted no time to catch my breath, instead flipping myself backwards and kicking back into standing. (back walkover)
When I was done, Serene clapped her hands and handed me the stopwatch, "Yay, Linh! Five seconds. That's a new record we're trying to beat!"
I nodded, smiling and wiping off the sweat on my brow.
Panting slightly, I lowered myself onto the ground, legs criss-crossed. As I watched the others do their routines, Fitz walked up to me.
"Do you want some?" He asked, handing me a fresh bottle of mineral water.
I accepted it and grinned gratefully, "Thanks, Fitz." before taking a huge gulp.
Fitz smiled, a perfect movie-star worthy one. "Sure, anytime."
Awww, how sweet.
When all of my bandmates were done with our warm-up, it was the boys' turn. For them, it appeared to be slightly different, with the main focus on rhythm and balance instead of flexibility.
They started with performing the choreography of Dynamite, one of the trending K-pop songs.
Shoes on, get up in the morning
Cup of milk, let's rock and roll
King Kong, kick the drum
Rolling on like a rolling stone
Sing-song when I'm walking homeJump up to the top, Lebron
Ding-dong, call me on my phoneIce tea and a game of ping pong
The boys' choreography was perfect, literally. They danced in perfect sync, catching up with every beat and rhythm. Their espresso was contagious, and I could almost feel myself wanting to follow their steps.
This is gettin' heavy, can you hear the bass boom? I'm ready (Woo-hoo)
Life is sweet as honey, yeah, this beat cha-ching like money, huh
Disco overload, I'm into that, I'm good to go
I'm diamond, you know I glow up
Hey, so let's go
I waited with bated breath when they got to the chorus.
'Cause I, I, I'm in the stars tonight
So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight (Hey)
Shinin' through the city with a little funk and soul
So I'ma light it up like dynamite, woah-oh-oh
I gasped a little as Fitz danced, in the place of Jungkook. His dancing skills were awesome, almost better than Jungkook himself. So, when they were finished, striking a cool pose, I was the one who clapped the hardest.
"You liked it, huh?" Fitz sat down beside me.
I smiled, "Of course, your band was amazing."
Fitz grinned, "I get that a lot."
*time skip to after they're done with warmups*
As we sat down around a round table, we started to generate song ideas.
"Idk...love song maybe?" Selene suggested, her head in her palms.
Alden was the first to reject it, "That wouldn't work. We have to base it off something right? Who here has a love story to share?"
When nobody raised their hand, Alden sighed, "That's what I thought."
We came up with many ideas, but all were turned down by Alden. It was either "too cheesy", "too romantic", or "too plain".
I checked my phone. It showed 1.30 pm.
"I know I can't speak for everyone else, but I think we should leave this task to later. How about we go and get a good lunch, then come back here again to discuss this?" I stood up and suggested.
Everyone agreed, and we all piled into our large van and drove off to the nearest mall.
