Frances Moore had given up on the idea of being in love a really long time ago. It's not like she didn't believe in love; of course she did. Frances was the biggest romantic there was. She just didn't believe she was capable of falling in love. She had her first kiss at 18 in a game of truth or dare with her classmate, which was extremely awkward for both of them. She had never had a boyfriend or girlfriend (Did Liam from pre-school count?). She's had several crushes, and none of them were reciprocated.
So on her 19th birthday, she declared herself an old maid, which was extremely young, but she was very sure of this outcome.
She likes to pretend it doesn't bother her, that when she reads books like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo or when she watches The Notebook, she doesn't cry because she knows she will never have that.
She also likes to pretend that the first time she met Tucker Pillsbury she wasn't immediately head over heels for him. She certainly did not blush every time she was in close proximity with him and he certainly did not make her laugh like no one else had.
Zero chance.
She hates to admit it but he terrifies her. Having real mushy feelings for someone is terrifying. Just the thought that he definitely does not reciprocate those feelings makes her sick to her stomach. Even though according to her friends he stares at her wait too long to just think of her as just a friend. He also tends to gravitate around her all the time and perks up when her name is mentioned. Again this is all hypothetical and Frances has seen no proof of this.
Still, she vows to never put herself in such a vulnerable position. She is not giving him the power to hold her heart in his hands.
Especially since he is a songwriter. She does not want a song with her name as the title out in the world!
