The cool midnight air brushed against my face as I quietly made my way through the darkened halls of Hogwarts, my footsteps barely making a sound. Fred was already waiting by the entrance to the hidden corridor, his usual grin lighting up the shadows around him.
"Ready for an adventure?" he whispered, his eyes glinting mischievously.
I nodded. "Lead the way."
Together, we snuck through the quiet castle, navigating the maze of corridors until we found ourselves in an old, abandoned section of Hogwarts. The walls were dusty, the air musty, and the sense of mystery thickened with each step.
Fred pushed open a large, creaky door, revealing what appeared to be a forgotten library. Shelves upon shelves of old books lined the walls, the scent of parchment and time heavy in the air.
"All there is here is books," Fred muttered, looking unimpressed. "What a disappointment."
I rolled my eyes. "Maybe there's something interesting."
But as I glanced around, a particular book seemed to catch my attention. Its cover was dark, worn, and embossed with gold lettering: Animagi. It felt like the book was calling to me, pulling me closer.
Without thinking, I slipped it into my bag.
Before I could say anything to Fred, the unmistakable voice of Filch echoed through the hallways. "Who's there?"
Panic shot through me. Fred grabbed my hand, and we bolted, running as fast as we could through the narrow hallways, our breath coming in ragged gasps. We darted around corners, heart pounding in my chest, until we found ourselves in a small, dimly lit hallway, pressed close together against the cold stone wall.
I could feel Fred's breath on my neck, and for a moment, the proximity made me blush. I hoped he didn't notice the heat rising in my cheeks, but when I glanced up, he was grinning.
"That was close," he whispered, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
I nodded, still catching my breath.
Before I could say anything, Fred nudged me. "It's a beautiful night. Maybe we should go watch the stars in the Astronomy Tower."
"I would love that"
We made our way to the tower, the cool night air a welcome relief after the chase. Once there, Fred looked through his pocket. "Check this out," he said.
"Oh shit. I forgot I gave it to Harry."
"What was it?"
"A cool map. Showed everyone's name in the castle. "
"I find it hard to belive you," I said with a smirk.
Fred chuckled. "I swear! As soon as I get it Ill show it to ya."
We stayed there for a while, watching the stars, laughing quietly, until finally, it was time to head back. Fred walked me part of the way, and we said our goodbyes. As I made my way towards the Hufflepuff corridor, my thoughts still buzzing with everything that had just happened, I suddenly heard a voice.
"Is someone there?"
I froze, recognizing it immediately—Professor Lupin's voice. A faint light flickered from down the hall, and my heart skipped a beat.
I stood still, holding my breath, hoping the shadows would hide me.
To my surprise, Harry Potter emerged from the shadows, his face pale and tired. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
