Kris jumped out of her ship and took off her helmet. God, I miss fresh air.
When was the last time she had breathed in actual fresh air?
Not long ago, she knew, but the memory, it was gone, just like all the others. Space station air was as cool and fresh as the technology could possibly make it, but it wasn't the same.
This particular space station was almost empty. The star system was a tiny little Copper Sun known as Silo. Or, as the Korvaxian residents called it, a rest stop.
Kris didn't want to be one of the Korvaxian residents- especially since she didn't want to be a robot, no matter how alive it was. Kris ran to the cartographer, who was part of Nova's Cell. "Hey, Tisho. Is she in maintenance?"
Tisho nodded. "Any maps for you?"
Kris groaned. "I don't have my hyperdrive. Yet. I'm working on getting my permit. Then I'm going to travel the galaxy. And maybe I'll find out where I came from."
Tisho 's lights flashed. "Or you could put that behind you and work for M7 Prime," he offered, waving around him. Kris examined his desk. There was a tiny little topographic map of Kaldor, a nearby planet in the system. A couple of Navigation Data Discs laid around.
"Eh," Kris sighed. "It's not like I would earn any units doing it. Or nanites, for that matter. If I work here, I don't have a life."
She smiled. "I'm going to make the biggest freighter fleet ever. I'm going to fight off the worst pirates, the ones that even the other pirates don't even like. And I'm going to be the best warrior ever."
Tisho was an Oval korvax. He had an oval shaped head with three lights. The lights flashed different colors depending on his emotions. His face only showed pity. Kris stood and glared at him. "I'm going to go see Nova," she told him, and started off.
There was a small hatch below the Station Overseer, a large ball that scanned ships coming in- not that there were many. Kris pried it open and dropped down into the maintenance center. One of the korvax looked up, but went back to his work once he saw that it was Kris. Kris shoved past the oily-looking wires, the robotic parts, and the tube-looking metal cylinders to see Nova- a Triangular korvax with yellow paint working on a sparking robotic arm.
Kris dropped next to her. "Hey, Nova," she said, leaning against the table. "What's up?"
Nova dropped the arm. "Right now, only frustration," she growled, lights glowing red. They turned back to blue as she faced Kris. "How's the hyperdrive going?"
Kris groaned. "Horrible. There are no merchants who sell blueprints."
Nova tapped her metal finger against the arm before lighting up- literally. "There's this cartographer. On Eris. It's the paradise planet at the end of the system if you don't know where it is. He's really good. He's like- the best you've ever seen. He'll get you a place within the Silo System. He hangs out around Yoshi Trade Hub. It's a tiny little outpost, but I'm sure Tisho's got a map to Yoshi. Trust me."
Kris sighed. "Fine. I'll try him. But only because I'm desperate."
Nova's lights turned yellow with joy before turning blue again- a more dark, despondent blue. "Why do you want to leave Silo? Leave me?"
Kris had been over this. "Because I want to explore the galaxy," she told Nova spinning around and bumping into an open wire, and jumping back from the shock. She turned back to Nova. "Because I want to explore the galaxy," she repeated, voice catching.
Nova turned back to the robotic arm. "He doesn't want you to pay in units or nanites, or even navigation data or salvaged data. He wants you to give him launch fuel canteens," she explained, ripping a couple wires out of the arm before turning back to Kris.
Kris was already gone.
A/N
If you want to read this first, go on ahead, but it's going to get a little confusing if you don't read my story Royale High first. Trust me, I've been waiting to write this for such a long time, and it's been so fun to map out, and writing it is always better. I have a feeling this is going to be one of my best stories.
In the synopsis (who even reads those anymore tho lol) I mentioned Connor, Lillith, Kel, Hunter, King, and Mat. There's one more character in the Wanderer's crew, but I can't give them away- that would lead to WAY too many spoilers.
If you want to get backgrounds on who these characters may be, reference these:
-Jolie
-Royale High
-Fairy Tale Towers
There is another story, which has to do with Hunter, King, and Mat, that isn't coming out until October, maybe even early November. Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoy the chapters to come.
