Y/n entered the Great Hall, scanning for a place to sit among the newly sorted Slytherins. The only available spot was near Blaise, Pansy, and Draco. With a resigned sigh, she made her way over, waving to her Gryffindor friends as she passed. They waved back, prompting a collective scoff from the Slytherins as Y/n took a seat next to Pansy, directly across from Draco.

"You were put in the wrong house. You're an embarrassment," Pansy whispered venomously.

"Keep going, Parkinson. I'll show you just how cunning I can be," Y/n retorted, matching Pansy's tone. She and Pansy had been rivals for as long as she could remember. Y/n genuinely hated her, her pug face, black bob and snobbish attitude all pushed Y/n buttons and made her constantly on edge.

"Ooooh, catfight!" Blaise teased with a laugh. Draco smirked, raising a hand to hide his amusement.

"Oh, sod off, all of you!" Y/n snapped, and Blaise chuckled, clearly enjoying the drama. Draco's eyes briefly met hers before he looked away.

"Quiet, please!" Dumbledore's voice echoed through the hall, silencing the crowd. "Now that we're all settled and sorted, I have an announcement. Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event: The Triwizard Tournament."

A buzz of excitement rippled through the students as Filch burst into the hall, looking flustered. Dumbledore whispered to him urgently before returning to his speech. "The Triwizard Tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school, a single student is selected to compete. Now let me be clear—if chosen, you stand alone. These contests are not for the faint-hearted."

The students leaned in as Dumbledore introduced the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and their headmistress, Madame Maxime. The Beauxbatons students, dressed in elegant blue uniforms, made a grand entrance, blowing kisses and batting their eyelashes. Every head turned to watch them, including Draco's, which made Y/n's chest tighten with irritation. She fought the urge to kick him under the table, settling for a huff as she noticed Hermione doing the same.

The Beauxbatons students took their seats at a specially designated table as Dumbledore continued. "And now, please welcome the proud sons of Durmstrang and their High Master, Igor Karkaroff."

Durmstrang students stormed into the hall, led by a strikingly handsome student. They performed a dazzling display with their canes, causing sparks to fly. Y/n found herself captivated by the lead student's wink, her cheeks flushing red. Draco's scoff and Blaise's intimidated glance didn't go unnoticed.

"What?" Y/n demanded, eyeing Draco.

"What a tosser," Draco replied dismissively.

"I think he's handsome," Y/n shot back.

"Oh, definitely! Hands off Claremont, he's mine." Pansy chimed in.

"Psh," Draco muttered, clearly annoyed.

"What's the matter? Not the centre of attention Draco?" Y/n teased

Draco didn't engage other than rolling his eyes at her, to which she smirked in response.

As the Durmstrang delegation settled at their table, Y/n observed Ron's starstruck expression towards Victor Krumb, and couldn't help but giggle. The feast soon commenced, and Dumbledore took the podium once more, presenting a large, golden goblet spewing blue fire.

"You're attention, please!" he bellowed. "Eternal glory awaits the student who wins the Triwizard Tournament. To achieve this, one must survive three dangerous tasks. For this reason, the Ministry has imposed a new rule: no one under the age of seventeen may enter."

The students' discontent grew audible until Dumbledore's wand tap revealed the goblet. "This goblet will accept entries for the tournament. As of this moment, the Triwizard Tournament has begun."
