(Twin AU)

As an explanation, in this AU Iguro and Giyuu are twins who were adopted by two different families because their father was a bitch and their mother died giving birth.

Also sorry for uploading this chapter later I just had a lot going on the past few months. And had to finish this while writing the other chaperts,being sick and having to sort some things out. Please know that I'll try to upload regularly again from now on.

(PoV Sanemi)

I am walking over to Mitsuri's estate as she wants to talk to me about Obanai's birthday next week. Upon arriving I knock on her door. Quickly a Kakushi opens the door for me, ,, Good Morning Wind Hashira. Miss Kanroji is waiting for you. Please follow me to her." I now and after taking off my shoes at the door I follow him to Mitsuri. ,,Ah! Hello Samemi-san. Please sit down with us", she gets me and gets to a western couch where her and Kyojiro are sitting. ,,Hello Sanemi-san! It's nice to see you!", he greets me as well. I not to then both while sitting down, ,, Hello to you two as well. It's nice to see you both as well." Mitsuri turns to me smiling, ,, So to catch you up to speed, we all know that Obanai was adopted by his family, right. We thought it would be a cool present to find his biological family and tell him if they are alive. Maybe he can get to know them." I can't help but laugh, ,, He already knows them Mitsuri. But he doesn't really get along with them. BUT he apparently has a twin brother. They never told who he is, what he looks like or who asked him. His aunt and uncle don't know and his father doesn't care to remember. He barely remembers that he has two sons. We could try to find his brother. Maybe they will get along and be happy." They both look at me as if I have two heads. ,, What? Is there something on my face?", I ask confused. Kyojiro answers, ,, We didn't know but as you said that he has a twin I noticed something..." I raise an eyebrow, ,, And what is that?" ,, I'm pretty sure in noticed the same thing. Tell me Samemi. Who of us Hashira looks almost the same as Obanai? Someone both you and him dislike...", Mitsuri says instead. I look confused at them but think... ,, You can't be serious! Him?!", I tell after realising what they are implying. ,,Think about it. He never talks about his family or his childhood just like Obanai. And he has a different type of Heterochromia... Turquoise inside and outside a deep blue. Plus they have both the same hair type. And once you get through to him he acts pretty similar to Obanai. It is very possible", Kyojiro explains. ,,I... He.... Ugh! I mean he wants to know his twin but he hates him! I don't know if that would end well. I mean does he even know that he was adopted?", I voice my thoughts. They both shake their head. I sink back into the couch frustrated that this is not as easy as we had hoped. ,,Hey Samemi? You grew up in Kumotori, right?", Kyojiro asks me. I nod, ,,Yeah. Why do you ask?" He smiles brightly, ,,Giyuu grew up there as well. We had a mission there and he avoided everyone like the pest. After we finished the mission I asked him why he did that and he told me that he grew up there and some bad things happened that then brought him to the Corpse. He might listen to you if you explain it believes to him." ,, And why neither of you? You are friends with him", I retaliate. Mitsuri grins and answers, ,,Simple. You are his best friend. Plus he wants to be friends with both of you and if you and Giyuu get along maybe Obanai will give him a chance as well when we tell him." I groan, ,, Only because I have no other idea. But we get Kocho to run some tests just to be sure. I don't want to give him hope only for it to turn out not true." They both not and I get up, ,, I'll go to him now. He should be at his estate right now." They both not and after saying it goodbye I leave.
On my way to the Water Estate I continue thinking about what Kyojiro said. If they are right this could go very wrong or very right. Obanai mostly hates him for being quiet and letting the demon brat live. Maybe getting to know him will change his view on at least his twin. Maybe they could also help eachother. Thinking more I realise something else. Whenever they are send on mission together they don't need to talk and yet still work together as if they have been planning that for years... Maybe they really are twins, but for now I'll just try to figure that out. Still in my thoughts I knock on Tomiokas door. He opens the door and I take a second to not scream, he really looks almost exactly like Obanai. ,,Hello Shinazugawa-san. How many I help you?" ,he asks looking at me confused. I take a deep breath, ,,I need to talk to you. May I come in as not everyone should hear our conversation." He nods and steps aside to let me enter. I take of my shoes at the door and he leads me into the kitchen. ,, Please excuse the chaos but I am in the middle of cooking. If you want you can have some", he explains. Thinking for a second I answer him, ,, That would be nice, if it would bother you." He shakes his head and continues cutting up some vegetables. ,,If you want you can tell me why you are here while I am cooking. I know the recipe well enough", he tells me after I just watch him cooking for a good while. I nod, ,,Right. To start of you know that Obanai was adopted by his.... 'Family', right?" He nods, ,,I do." ,, Well it is his birthday next week and Kyojiro, Mitsuri and myself want to give him something special that would make him happy. These two suggested to find his biological family, but he already did that. But he has a twin that was also given up for adoption and-", I explain until Tomioka looks like s ghost and drops his knife. ,,Are you ok?!", I ask concerned. He slowly picks up the knife and answers with a shaking voice, ,,Yeah... Don't mind that. Please continue." I look over concerned but continue, ,, And while explained to them that they thought about it and came to the assumption that maybe you and him are twins. Their reasoning is that you both have three same type of hair, Heterochromia and you both act very similar. They asked me to talk with you about that as we both grew up in Kumotori, so they think that you would may listen to me instead of them. And because of that assumption is true, Obanai might be more ok with that if we maybe get along." Tomioka looks at the vegetables but doesn't move. I put my hand on his shoulder and startled he jumps. ,, Tomioka? What is going on? First you drop your knife and now you zone out", I inquire curious. He looks away, ,, Because I already know that. My adopted older sister always told me that I have a twin with different Heterochromia. After I met Iguro I knew it must be him. I tried to talk with him but he just pushed me away, so I have up." I look shocked at him. ,, Then let's go to Kocho. She can run some tests and then he will have proof, that he can't ignore. And Kyojiro, Mitsuri and I will help you get close to him",I say determent. He looks at me. ,, What? Just by our conversation now I can guess that I might've missjugded you before. So I wantI take the chance to get you know you do that I know if I truly missjugded you", i answer his confused look. He smiles softly, ,, Thank you Shinazugawa-san." I nod, ,, No problem. Now. How about we eat first and then go to Kocho? I am sure that she can run some tests without Obanai noticing to proof it on a medical scale and with everything else we will help." He nod and finishes cooking. Handing me my bowl I see shimmered sake salmon and Miso soup with some tempura, rice and as dessert Ohagi and Mochi to freely choose. ,,You know how to make Ohagi? Cool. They are my favourite", i say. He smiles lightly, ,,I do. My favourite is Shimmered Sake Salmon. My sister always made it when I was sick as a child and she was still alive." I pat his shoulder, ,,I am sorry to hear that. If you want you can always come talk to me. My mother turned into a demon and killed all my siblings. I was only able to protect Genya..." He nods, ,,She protected me from a demon. As I told the people in our town they said that I was crazy and tried to send me away to some 'relatives' that are doctors. I ran and got found by a hunter frozen half to death. Urokodaki-sensei took me in and saved my life. He trained me after I was healthy again. This is why I avoid the stress of our hometown like the pest..." I nod, ,,I ran away because Genya didn't understand that I had to do that. Some time later a Slayer found me and I learned under his old sensei. He died on the mission that made me a Hashira... I still miss him but I know that I can honour his death by slapping more demons to safe others from that fate."
We talk more while eating and quickly finish cleaning the utensils. After that we go to Kocho's Estate and knock on her door. ,,Come in", we hear her call and open the door. ,,Hello Kocho", Tomioka greets her.
