A few weeks had gone by, and you find yourself settling into college life nicely. You had turned 18 in June and were excited to start having your own independence and start your adult life. You don't have too many classes, thankfully, but the one you look forward to the most is your English Literature class.
With professor Jackson. You walk into professor Jackson's room, your eyes immediately shooting to his desk. His eyes were down, looking at some papers, spinning a pen in his hand mindlessly. You frowned, wishing he looked up to see you. You had dressed nicely for him today. Your best shoes, new jeans that made your ass look great, and a nice tank top to show off your shoulders and arms, and lots of jewlery.
Lacey plops down beside you. Of course she notices, exclaiming, "Ooooh, you look good today!" You blush and glance at the professor.
"Thanks," you say, smiling at her.
"What's the occasion?" she asks.
You shake your head. "Nothing, do I need a reason to take care of myself?" you snap. You quickly glance at professor Jackson again, this time he had noticed you and met your eyes. You quickly look away, hoping Lacey didn't notice.
Lacey's face slowly drops and her eyes widen. "Waiiiiit a minute," she says in a suspicious tone. She leans forward, close to your face.
"You like Mr. Jackson, don't you?" she hisses quietly. Your heart drops."No, I don't," you immediately respond. "He's too old for me and that's not allowed." You avoid Lacey's gaze.
"Don't try to play it off. It all makes sense now. You're dressed up, you're always early to his class, you actually pay attention in this class, YOU'RE CRUSHING ON THE TEACHER."
"Shut the fuck up," you whisper-yell, smacking her in the arm. But your face flushes red, revealing what you refuse to say.
"I don't." You cross your arms and lean back in your chair, glancing back at professor Jackson. Your eyes meet briefly and he flashes you a smile.

"Alex, can I see you after class today?"
Jumping in your seat, startled, you look up. Professor Jackson is leaning over your seat. You had been sucked into the class book, you didn't even hear him walking up.
"Uh- uh, yeah!" you stutter out, sitting up straight.
Professor Jackson smiles. "Sounds good, Alex," he says. You like the way he says your name, it makes you blush. He walks back to his desk, letting the class finish their reading/study time until the end of class.
Lacey elbows you in the ribs, trying to get your attention. You glance at her. She has a strange look on her face. Like curiosity, concern, and confusion all mixed. You shrug at her. When class ends, Lacey glares at you as she leaves. You ignore her and stay in your seat, waiting for all the students to leave. You swallow, watching professor Jackson sit at his desk, watching everyone exit. When the last student leaves, his eyes slide over to you. He stands.
"Alex, I just wanted to say I really admire you," he says, walking to your desk. You smile and fidget with your fingers nervously. Admires??!!!
"Your work is astonishing, really," he continues. "I love reading your poems. I think you're more advanced than this class."
Your mouth opens in shock."But I would hate to lose you," professor Jackson says gruffly, leaning over your desk, his hands on the top. You blush now.
"Professor Jackson-" you start, red-faced. "What are you saying?"
"I'm saying I think you can do great things. You really have a knack for this stuff. I have some colleagues who would love to meet you and read your work. Some could offer you very exclusive programs and even awards." He pauses, gaging your reaction. You don't know how to react, overwhelmed by his compliments.
"Here's my personal number if you have any more questions." Professor Jackson slides you a small slip of paper with his phone number. He winks then stands back.
"Now I have another class to teach soon, you should get going. But it was nice talking, Alex." He grins. You stutter out an agreement, hurriedly grabbing your things and stubbling embarrassingly out of your seat, stuffing the slip of paper in your pocket. As you exit the classroom, you have to bite your lip to stiffle a massive grin.
