Soul's life ended in torment, confined to a tiny, forgotten room where both his body and spirit withered away. For as long as he could remember, those he had once called family had shown him only disdain and cruelty. It wasn't always this way. There were fragments of his early childhood filled with warmth, laughter, and belonging. But something had changed. His once-affectionate parents grew cold and distant, avoiding him at every turn. His siblings sneered and schemed to erase him from memory.
At first, it was subtle—the portions of food grew smaller, the conversations grew colder, and the isolation grew longer. Then came the ultimate betrayal: imprisonment within a dark, empty room. Days blurred into months, possibly years; he had lost any sense of time. A single thin blanket provided meager warmth against the chill creeping through the cracks in the stone walls. Frail and starving, Soul grew weaker with every passing day. Only a lone, forgotten book remained in his prison—a last gift of distraction. He read it endlessly, seeking brief escapes into fantasies of far-off lands and heroic tales, everything his own life lacked.
But no hero came. The world outside went on, indifferent to his suffering. His family never returned, and his hope faded with the dim light that filtered into his cell. Starvation crept in, slowly claiming him as his body gave out. There was no anger or fear in those final moments, only resignation. If his family would not come for him, then death would. His end came quietly, marked by solitude and neglect.
Yet, when he opened his eyes again, he was no longer in that small, suffocating room. He wasn't cold, hungry, or frail. Instead, he stood under a vast, moonlit sky, surrounded by a strange, dense forest that seemed alive in ways beyond his understanding. Towering, ancient trees shimmered with an otherworldly glow, and strange sounds echoed through the woods—the cries of creatures that didn't belong to the world he knew.
It was bewildering. He had expected oblivion, the quiet peace of death. But here he was, standing on unfamiliar ground, alive and... different. His once-weak body now felt strong and alert, though his memories of torment lingered.
Suddenly, a translucent green screen flickered to life before him, startling him. Words scrolled across it, and a cheerful, artificial voice echoed in his mind:
"Welcome to the Beast Taming System! You have been selected as a Tamer! Your journey begins now!"
Soul stared at the screen, disbelief mixing with a spark of curiosity. Beast Taming System? What could it mean? He reached out, touching the screen, and it reacted instantly, displaying more information.
"The Beast Taming System allows you to capture, tame, and control creatures within this magical world. Gain experience, level up, and form bonds with mythical beasts. Your survival depends on your skills as a Tamer. Are you ready to begin?"
Reeling, Soul's instincts told him this was real—more real than anything he'd ever known. Somehow, he'd been transported to a world completely different from the one that had abandoned him. Here, it seemed, he had a new chance at life—though with unfamiliar challenges.
For the first time in ages, Soul felt something stirring inside him—a sense of purpose, faint but undeniable. This new world was dangerous, but it offered him what his old life had denied: power, autonomy, and a chance to shape his own destiny. There were no family members to oppress him, no locked doors to imprison him. Here, he could finally become more than the forgotten boy who had wasted away.
Still, doubt lingered. Could he trust this strange system? Could he even trust himself?
With the moon casting eerie light over the vast forest, Soul made his choice. He would learn the rules of this world, master this system, and tame the creatures roaming these lands. He would become stronger than he'd ever dared to imagine. No one would mistreat him again, and no one would control his fate—not even death.
With newfound resolve burning in his chest, Soul stepped forward into the unknown, ready to face whatever lay in store.
