The room fell into a thick silence, the weight of your words hanging in the air like a storm cloud about to break. Zeus’ eyes burned with fury, and for a moment, it felt like lightning would strike you where you stood. But then, a slow, deep laugh echoed across the hall.
"You’ve certainly got nerve," came a voice from the back of the chamber. You turned to see Ares, god of the war, leaning forward in his seat with a sharp smile on his lips. "Not many mortals would dare speak so boldly with this company."
The other gods shifted uncomfortably, uncertain how to react. You could feel their eyes on you, some filled with curiosity, others with cold contempt. But the room still held its breath, waiting for Zeus’ next move.
But Zeus looked just as much uncertain, as if it's the first time he had been in this position. Hera on his side cleared her throat, shifting the attention towards her. "What if she's a new goddess? It's not the first time seeing a... Unique birth, just like Dionysus or Athena. She could be escorted to The Oracle of Delphi, to know of her fate." Hera suggested, and Zeus looked more confused than before.
"I could escort her," a man's voice echoed from across the room, and you turn to see Apollo speaking. "It is my temple after all."
You take a good look at him. Apollo is tall and handsome, with glowing fair skin and bright blue eyes. His golden hair falls in loose waves, and he wears a simple, elegant robe. His presence is warm and confident, reflecting his role as the god of prophecy and the sun.
After a few seconds of silence, Zeus just shrugged. "Fine, let's see what Pythia has to say for someone with your case. You are all dismissed, but i do expect you and everyone tomorrow when the sun rise, as we will have the answer." And with that, Zeus gets up and leaves. Your eyes fall upon Hera, who looked at you, gave you a small bow and followed her husband.
You turn around but see the unexpected, many of the gods surrounding you like an animal at the zoo.
Is this how gods truly react? Their not as far from human nature indeed, after all. You awkwardly smile, trying to study their faces.
Athena steps forward, her gaze sharp. “We haven’t seen anything like this in a long time. The Oracle of Delphi should give us some answers, but don’t expect an easy path. They say one meets their fate on the way of trying to avoid it."
Ares chuckles darkly. “So, you’re the new mystery siren Poseidon was talking about? I’m not that impressed yet. The Oracle’s words will have to prove you’re more than a curiosity.” but Aphrodite pinched his arm, frowning at him as if she was scolding him with her eyes.
“Well, isn’t this a surprise,” Aphrodite says, her voice smooth and welcoming. “A new beautiful goddess in our midst. How delightful. I must admit, you have certainly caught my eye.”
She smiles, though there’s a hint of calculation in her gaze. “Tell me, what is it that brings you to our world? I hope you’re here to add a touch of beauty and charm, as we could always use more of that.”
Her tone is friendly but with a subtle edge. “However, do remember that the divine realm can be quite... competitive. I’m sure you’ll find your place soon enough, but I advise you to tread carefully-"
"Shall we go?" A familiar voice interrupted Aphrodite, who looked at Apollo offended.
Your eyes widened as the position those gods put you was stressful. You just nod and with that he turn to exit the palace, with you following him.
As you prepare to leave with Apollo, you notice a few gods watching with interest—especially Hermes, who seems intrigued by your situation and makes a mental note of it, and Dionysus, who watches with a mischievous smile, clearly finding the situation entertaining.
