Late Hours Of The Night

I looked at my watch 10 minutes to my shift ends I stood up and started pacing around my desk anything to pass the time I walked over to the window,
I couldn't see anything only the sound of wind and rain shaking the window
"ten more minutes "I sighted out loud and
I walked back to my desk and sat down,
A book stared at me lying on top of the desk, Grey's Elucidation: the seven kinds of magic, I picked the huge book up and threw my legs on the desk. I started to flip the pages, when The precinct door opened slowly with a creek
I looked up
A head popped in and I could see a girl's eye gazing around the room locating me then she slowly went in staggering and tumbling on the way over
"Hello"
I looked at her
She was young maybe late 20s she had a faded blue eye some bruises and her clothes were torn bloody and her right arm was scratched
I jumped from my chair the book falling to the ground with a thump
"what happened" I said
she didn't respond, just stared at me with a terrified look on her face
"can you tell me your name" I asked in gentle voice while trying to help her sit down
"i was attacked" she answered in a Shaky voice
"do you know who attacked you' can you describe them"
"Y y yes" she started to stutter
"can you tell me"
she shook her head. " can i know why", she just stared at me.
in similar cases with kids whom can't talk after an incident we hand them pen and paper, sometimes the draw something useful sometimes the write, I thought to myself.
I took a paper out and a pen and handed them to her, "can you write it down"
she took the pen and just stared at the blank paper
" how about a nice warm cup of coffee or maybe tea, Do you like tea?" I asked
She didn't move her gaze and just nodded
" a cup of nice warm tea then" I walked to the back office to boil some water
Looking for the tea bags and sugar
-"would you like some sugar with it "I shouted No reply
i waited for the water to boil, maybe in my absence she feels safe and write something,
I poured the tea in one of the other officer's mug and took the sugar jar and went back outside The precinct door was open and she was now where to be found
I ran outside to find her it was still pouring
And the streets were empty and dark
There was no one in sight not even bystanders I went back inside I noticed she even left the blanket
I wasn't surprised it wasn't even the first time someone came in to report a crime and ran off before they could
I took the paper it had something scribbled on it i didn't understand and picked the book from the floor and stuffed the paper in it, I sighted and looked at my watch my shift had ended 20 minutes ago.
