Pein

"Thank you Leader-sama!" You called out, running back to your medic bay as Konan walked into view. You knew you could call Pein by his real name. However, you didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable. So you called him Leader-sama in front of the other members, which meant he was now alone with Konan.

"You certainly have an attachment," Konan remarked to Pein, looking up at him. "What are you talking about?" He questioned, not looking down at her. "(Y/n). I've noticed you have taken quite a liking to her." "She is a medic. She has the reports I need on our members' injuries and things that she might need for her bay," Pein responded rather nonchalantly. Konan smirked at his ignorance of his feelings. "Right. Of course," she answered convincingly.

Was Pein really developing an attachment? He had no idea - he had never had these feelings before. Pein had sat with these feelings of confusion for a few days. He had 0 clue what was happening, and so he went to talk to someone he knew from the very beginning - Konan.

"So let me get this straight. You feel somewhat nervous whenever you're around her, you feel unmistakeably happy whenever she is in your office for however long of time, and you feel the need to constantly check on her, even if you don't check on her?" Konan questioned curiously. Pein looked down with his eyes before closing them, sighing, and nodding in agreeance. She nodded before turning around and placing a bright red rose in his hand. Pein looked down at the rose and up back at Konan, his normal stoic expression still plastered on his face. "Give this to her whenever you're ready. You, Nagato, have a crush," Konan said, calling him by his real name.

Pein swallowed hard. A crush? It sounds so childish, yet it felt so real.

What the hell was happening to him?

Konan

Konan sat quietly on the roof of the hideout, looking out into the sunset as it sat gently on the horizon. She was folding a small piece of paper into a paper crane, and even though she had her jutsu and could make paper cranes in a fraction of a second, she preferred to make them by hand whenever she was in thought. Konan looked up and over her shoulder to see Pein making his way over to her, sitting down next to her.

"You haven't made a paper crane by hand in a while," he remarked, to which Konan said nothing in return - she continued to make her crane in silence. Pein closed his eyes as Konan kept her eyes glued to her crane in thought. "What is bothering you, Konan?" Pein asked, looking down at the purple-haired woman. She shrugged, sighing and keeping her hands on the crane. "I seem to have developed feelings for someone," she said embarrassingly. Pein's eyes widened before returning to normal - he had seen Konan go through so much, but this was a first. "...I see," He responded.

Konan kept her eyes down on her crane, which she had just finished constructing carefully. It rested gently in her hands, flapping its wings with the use of her jutsu. She lifted her hands, cupping the crane, letting it float and drift off into the wind. Konan watched with curious eyes as it flew off into the sunset carefully. "Nagato," she started, looking down at her feet in a fetal position. "What do I do?" Konan asked genuinely, looking up at Pein with pleading eyes, the same ones she had when Yahiko died.
