Heaven and hell are not as far apart as mortals think. From the lavish garden of heaven, Skeppy can see the charred ashen roots of the damned thing the demons call a garden.

Skeppy waters each supple blossom with intention. The first thing one sees upon approaching the golden gate, is the garden.

After watering the plants with the sweetest water any God could fathom, Skeppy sits for a moment.

Across the way, hell's garden is being tended to as well. A demon as naïve as Skeppy makes his rounds, burning anything that dared to migrate over from Heaven's side and blossom.

Skeppy watched Bad everyday, and everyday the demon watched back.

Bad waved.

Skeppy giggled. He found the demon alluring. Of course he wasn't supposed to touch the demon, but words were not strictly forbidden.

"Have my blossoms given you trouble?"

Bad crossed his arms and grinned. "You'd think something so holy might understand where it belongs."

"They are proving a point." Skeppy tilted his head to one side.

"What's that?"

"Faith is enough to make flowers bloom out of ash."

"Keep your blossoms over there." Bad laughed lighthearted. He did not fit in with the other demons. Nor did Skeppy fit in with the angels.

Demons and angels did have prejudices towards one another. But Bad and Skeppy were juvenile, only a century old. They heard stories, but they had not developed the hatred themselves.

"You keep your disgusting grey ash over there. Yesterday it was all over my lilies."

Bad clicked his tongue. "How long do we intend on doing this?"

"Doing what?"

"We stand here every day, bantering about our gardens...but can't we admit there's more here?" The demon stepped forward, towards the boundary of hell, about to cross it.

"Stay on your side!" Skeppy said, panicked. He knew he had to stay away from demons, even if they were as interesting as Bad. "What are you talking about?"

"I think you're so intriguing." Bad said honestly. There was no deception, he was only young and curious. "You have beautiful wings."

Skeppy's wings fluttered at the mention. "Thank you...I find you kind of handsome...even though I'm not supposed to."

"It's called lust." Bad said casually.

"What's lust?" Skeppy had not been taught, a fault of the Gods.

"I can show you."

"Okay." Skeppy hummed. "Well, show me."

"Come here, we have to be close."

"Oh...I'm not supposed to be close to a demon." Skeppy's wings folded timidly.

"Aren't you curious? It's not going to cause a problem, demons do it all the time." Bad had not been informed that lust was strictly for demons.  He couldn't imagine what lust could do to an angel.

"Well I'm not a demon." Skeppy looked back, seeing if anyone was watching him. No one was, only God. And God doesn't interfere. "You won't hurt me, right? I hear demons tell lies."

"I don't like lying." Bad shrugged. "I don't want to hurt you, you're gorgeous." Bad felt as if he had a heart when he looked at the angel. He yearned to be a part of that heavenly world. "Just for a second, let me teach you something. Then in exchange, you can teach me something pure."
