A week had passed, and Rye continued her daily routine.
It was Tuesday, and Rye arrived at school at exactly 8:00, later than usual. She suddenly bumped into someone. She looked at the guy. He was tall and handsome, and he has fair-skinned.
Rye's heart skipped a beat. He was definitely the most handsome guy she'd seen in school. Al though he seems familiar to her. She quickly gathered her scattered books, her cheeks flushing with a mixture of embarrassment and something else she couldn't quite name.
"I'm so sorry," Rye said, her voice barely a whisper. "I wasn't paying attention."
The guy smiled, a warm, genuine smile that lit up his face. "No worries," he said. "It happens." He reached down and helped her pick up her books, his fingers brushing against hers. A jolt of electricity shot through her, and she quickly pulled her hand away.
"Thanks," she mumbled, her eyes darting away from his. She felt a strange mix of shyness and excitement, a feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time. "I gotta go," she said, then ran fast leaving the guy because she was late to her subject.
Rye's heart pounded as she raced down the hallway, her mind replaying the encounter. She couldn't shake the feeling that she knew him, that she'd seen him before. But where?
The bell rang, signaling the start of class, and Rye hurried into her classroom, her breath catching in her throat.
She tried to focus on her lessons, but her thoughts kept drifting back to the handsome stranger.
During break, she told her best friend, Lei, "I bumped into this guy this morning," she said, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and confusion. "He's so handsome, but I swear I've seen him before."
Lei listened intently, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Oh, the transferee guy? He's my classmate, and of course you know him."
Rye's eyes widened. "The transferee guy?" she repeated, her mind racing. "But...I don't remember seeing him here at school."
Rye's eyes widened. "The transferee guy?" she repeated, her mind racing. "But...I don't remember seeing him here at school."
Lei spoke, "You don't really remember him?" Suddenly, someone poked her, and it was the guy.
"You don't really remember me? That hurts. You don't remember someone in the past?" said the guy
"I...I'm sorry," Rye said "I don't know why, but I just can't remember but you seem so familiar."
Lei and the guys both laughed but suddenly the guy's smile faded, replaced by a look of hurt. "You don't remember me," he said, his voice a low rumble. "We were lovers, though, we don't have label, but we used to talk."
Rye's heart dropped. "Lovers?" she echoed, her voice barely a whisper. "But...I don't...I don't remember anything."
The guy's eyes softened, a flicker of sadness crossing his face. "It's okay," he said, his voice gentle. "It happens. Sometimes, people forget things. " He took a step closer, his gaze holding hers. "We used to spend hours talking, laughing, sharing dreams. We were inseparable."
"I...I don't know what to say," she stammered. "I'm so sorry."
He reached out and gently touched her head. "Don't apologize," the guys said "Take your time and I'll be here."
He turned and walked away, leaving Rye and Lei standing there.
As the day ended, she never saw the guy again.
As days passed, a debate was held in front of the Senior High School Building. STEM students were asked to debate with ABM students, and there the guy stood, in front of the crowd.Rye is an HUMSS student, and her best friend Lei is a STEM student. This means the guy is also a STEM student.
As the debate raged on, Rye found herself captivated by his words. Before the guy stepped down after his speech, his last words were his name. Rye was hit by that name that memories flash. She did really know that guy.
