"Ga-Gargi baisa, please be quick hukum, if you get late Maasa hukum will get really angry. It's your wedding hukum, please" whispered a wavering voice from outside the room. The gate opens and out of which comes the one and only daughter of thakur Maan Singh Rathore, Gargi Singh Rathore. She was adorned with jewels so bright as if they'd shame the moon itself, the big red gown so beautiful it would even make the gods' heart throb. "Hukum, please put your veil on, we are in jodhpur remember. And it isn't a very good thing for you to go down without a veil". "Okay-okay, geez, my god. I remember we are not in Greece right now" sighed Gargi and continues to ask "Tanu, how am I looking". "So beautiful as if the gods will come down to see you. May maa keep you safe from every evil". And both of them walked towards the staircase to go down where the mandap was ready and where Jai was waiting.
Gargi comes down and sits in the mandap besides Jai. Pandit ji calls for the parents of the bride. Pandit ji then asks the bride and the groom to get up for pheras. After the fourth one pandit ji asks Jai to put sindoor on Gargi's head. "Wait" said Gargi. "Pandit ji, there were supposed to be 7 rounds right? then why did you ask him to put sindoor after the fourth one" Gargi asks pandit ji in awe. Pandit ji replied "long ago, a very respected king was getting married but after the fourth round he cut the knot and went to a war but never came back. So to pay your respects, rajputs only take 4 rounds. Do you get it now, hukum". "Yes, please continue with your rituals" as the wedding gets over Gargi goes to Jai's house where she was welcomed beautifully.
"Do you remember Gargi, when I first asked you out and you turned me down" asked jai with a smirk and a pride as if he hit some jackpot. "Yes, Jai I remember, and in front of the whole college you then said that you'll marry me, no matter what" replied Gargi while removing her heavy jewellery. Somebody knocks on the door, Gargi puts her veil back on and checks the door. "Hukum mummy" said Gargi with a very low tone. "Gargi, tomorrow we have to go to the Maajisa's Temple to ask for blessings, so both of you, be on time" said Jai's mother to Gargi.
In the morning, Everybody is sitting in the dining area and having their breakfast and enjoying themselves. Jai hurriedly ran out of the house while talking on the phone. Gargi follows him to the dining area. Gargi puts her veil back on and offers greetings to her mother-in-law. In the place of the head of the family sits Mahadevi Singh Shekhawat in dull colored clothes and a thin golden chain in her neck as she was a widow. On the left side the first chair was reserved for jai who went out. Next to that it was Gargi's place to sit after that Jyoti Singh Shekhawat the one and only daughter of Shekhawats. On the right side of Mahadevi it was the place of her second son Gaurav Singh Shekhawat next to him was Dadisa hukum. Shekhawats were the owners of the biggest jewellery shops in all of Asia.
"Gargi, where did Jai banna go, in such a hurry?" Questioned Mahadevi as she was surprised by Jai's sudden rush. "A patient of Jai's got a sudden heart attack so he had to rush to him" replied Gargi while sitting down on her seat. "But we were supposed to go to Temple have you forgotten" said Mahadevi with a strict tone. "No hukum, he remembers don't worry he'll be on time. I'll make sure" replied Gargi with a comforting tone.
It's almost 4 O'clock and everyone is getting ready to leave for the temple. "Bhushan, is Jai banna back?" Asked Mahadevi in a discomforted tone. "For some reason I'm not having a good feeling". "Hukum, I called the hospital but according to staff Jai banna left quite a while ago. But don't worry he might have gotten stuck in traffic" said Bhushan in a comforting tone. Bhushan is one of the most loyal people working for Mahadevi Singh and takes only her orders. "I hope that's the case, but still for some reason I'm feeling weird uneasiness. May she keep my child safe" responded Mahadevi Singh while praying to the Goddess.
Everybody was ready and waiting for Jai's arrival in the living room when the doorbell rang. "Bhushan, go and check it might be Jai banna" said Mahadevi Singh while getting up from her chair. Bhushan opens the door just to find that it wasn't Jai but the police. "Hukum, it's Raghav banna" said Bhushan. Raghav Singh Shekhawat, Mahadevi Singh's brother in law's one and only child, Raghav's parents died in an accident after which Mahadevi Singh raised him like her own. "Raghav banna, you didn't tell me that you were also coming with us and why did you brought your people with you. We are not going to battle" Mahadevi laughs while walking towards Raghav. "Hu-Hukum, bhaisa was shot 6 times in his chest while he was waiting in traffic".
