Dear Class of 2026,

Does anyone remember...

[7 YEARS AGO, AS OF 2024]

I, Liv, joined class of 2026, with many others. Our class would grow later on, but even then, we were large in size.

I remember how Ryan and I used to talk about Miraculous for hours. Sometimes days.

I remember how, on my first day, Katrina and her best friend ran away from me, and how she tells me even now she didn't want to. It was all right, though, her best friend was a rude bully anyway.

I remember how I couldn't easily make friends, and only knew a couple girls for the first few weeks.

I remember how everyone would pretend to sleep so we could get out of Math, me especially. We all just couldn't seem to grasp the concept of bigger-than-ten addition, again, me especially. Plus, we all liked the feeling of falling asleep.

I remember how we all used to play "house", and that I'd usually play the dog.

I remember how we all couldn't play in the small yard behind our classroom because a new playground was being built, and when it was finished, it rained. I remember that before it was finished, we'd check on it every single day.

I remember how we would all have to eat lunch with the big kids, and how we were all terrified of them, well me, at least.

I remember the eighth graders used to look like giants.

I remember how on birthdays, we would trace over the birthday boy/girl's body, and comment stuff on the paper we wrote on.

I remember how we all saw each other at school events, and we'd just talk.

I remember how, at the school carnival, we were too scared to ride the UFO ride. I remember how we all just rode the little kid rides because we were too short for the other ones.

I remember when homework used to be fun.

I remember how when my family bought our minivan, it was the coolest thing they all saw.

I remember whenever a phone call came in from the office, we all hoped it would be us going home, and how we still do it to this day.

I remember how we'd all be so jealous of Timothy because he was so tall, and how we all pitied Ryan for being the smallest.

I remember how we'd use to go to the library to pick out some books, and how we'd all read underneath the tables.

I remember how the bathrooms doors used to have a top and bottom that could open from the outside, and how I was so afraid someone would peek.

I remember when my friends and I were the slowest runners, and the other boys were too fast for us to keep up.

Love,

Liv
