We all woke up from our first night's sleep at Hogwarts, still trying to shake off the grogginess of the day before. The excitement of the Sorting Ceremony and our first feast had left us all exhausted but buzzing with energy.

Millicent was the first to jump out of bed and make her way into the bathroom. She was by far the most awake of us all, her heavy footsteps padding across the stone floor as she rummaged through her trunk. In no time, she was out again, fully dressed, her dark hair neatly brushed. I couldn't help but admire how she was always the first to get ready, no matter the time of day.

"Bathroom's free," she said with a yawn.

Tracey was next, dragging herself into the bathroom, still half asleep. She came out moments later, her own hair tamed and her robes in place. Pansy rolled over with a groan before finally shuffling in after her, but not before making some half-hearted complaint about how early it was.

While they took their turns, I sat on the edge of my bed, brushing through my own hair, which was a tangled mess from tossing and turning all night. The excitement of Hogwarts was one thing, but I wasn't used to the drafty dungeons of the Slytherin dormitory, and it had made my sleep restless. I carefully worked through the knots, starting at the ends and slowly making my way up.

By the time Pansy came out, I had finally tamed my hair and was ready to change. I grabbed my robes and quickly slipped into the bathroom. Unlike the others, I wasn't one to linger—I was too eager to get on with the day. After just a minute or two, I was out and ready to leave for breakfast.

"We've got time to spare," Pansy said with a smirk, adjusting the hem of her robe.

"Save me a seat," I told them. "I'll be right back."

They nodded, already heading down the stairs. I quickly made my way towards the Gryffindor table, where Harry, Ron, and Hermione were sitting. The Great Hall was buzzing with chatter, but I spotted them easily, seated among the red and gold, still looking like they were trying to absorb everything that had happened yesterday.

"Hi!" I called out as I approached.

Harry looked up and smiled, his usual shy expression softening as he waved. "Hey, how's it going?"

Hermione, always the first to answer, jumped in. "It was good! Harry and I share a dorm room."

I grinned, noticing how Harry seemed more relaxed now that he had some friends to talk to. Before we could continue, Dumbledore's voice boomed through the hall. "Silence, please! Everyone, find your seats!"

"Gotta go," I said quickly. "See you later!" I waved as I turned back toward the Slytherin table, scanning for my friends. They had already found a spot near the end of the table, with an empty seat waiting for me.

"Hi," Pansy whispered as I sat down, offering me a piece of toast.

Dumbledore was still standing at the front, his arms raised for attention. "Now that I have everyone's attention," he began, "first years, today you will be learning how to ride a broomstick."

The entire hall erupted in excited chatter. Even I couldn't suppress my smile. Flying lessons? On the second day? This was going to be amazing.

Dumbledore raised his hands again, and the room fell quiet. "You'll be flying with Madam Rolanda Hooch," he continued, gesturing towards the teacher who was standing at the front of the hall. She gave a curt nod before sitting back down.

"That's all for now," Dumbledore said with a twinkle in his eye. "Let the feast begin!"

With a wave of his hand, food appeared on the tables once again—an abundance of bacon, eggs, tomatoes, sausages, and toast. I grabbed a piece of toast and some scrambled eggs, but my mind was already drifting to the flying lesson we had later.
