Leon woke up feeling groggy but oddly comforted by his surroundings. The room was softly lit, decorated with children’s toys and drawings, creating an atmosphere of domestic warmth. He was lying in bed with Eloise beside him, her presence a confusing blend of comfort and disorientation.

Eloise stirred and looked at him with a gentle smile. “Good morning, Leon. How are you feeling?”

Leon rubbed his eyes, trying to shake off the disorientation. “I’m not sure. I was at college, then I heard a voice… and now I’m here?”

Eloise’s expression softened with concern. “You’ve been through a lot. It’s normal to feel a bit confused. You’re home now, and you’re safe.”

Leon’s confusion deepened. “But this doesn’t feel like our home. Where are Dimitri and Hilal?”

Eloise’s eyes flickered with something Leon couldn’t quite read. “They’re playing in the other room. You’ll see them soon.”

Feeling somewhat reassured, Leon accepted Eloise’s comforting words and tried to focus on regaining his sense of normalcy.

Later that day, Eloise suggested they go for a picnic at a nearby park with Dimitri and Hilal. The outing seemed like a pleasant distraction from the confusion that had plagued him. The park was lively, and the children’s laughter filled the air. Eloise appeared to be enjoying herself, but Leon noticed she kept stepping away to take phone calls. Each time, her conversation was brief and her demeanor tense.

During one of these absences, Leon saw Eloise from a distance, engaged in a hurried phone call. When she returned, Leon attempted to broach the subject.

“Who was that on the phone?” he asked casually.

Eloise forced a smile. “Just a work call. Nothing important.”

Leon was about to probe further but decided to let it go, hoping to avoid causing any unnecessary tension. The picnic continued with a semblance of normalcy. As evening approached, they packed up and headed home with the kids.

That night, after a quiet evening and watching a movie together, Eloise and the children fell asleep. Leon took the opportunity to put Dimitri and Hilal to bed, tucking them in and feeling a strange sense of contentment despite his lingering doubts.

Returning to the living room, Leon found Eloise asleep on the couch. Her phone lay on the coffee table, illuminated by a soft glow. Intrigued, Leon picked it up and scrolled through recent notifications. One message stood out—a cryptic text from an unknown number that seemed oddly unsettling.

Leon’s heart raced as he tried to make sense of the message. The cryptic nature of the text and the eerie timing of his discoveries left him feeling uneasy. He placed the phone back down, his mind awash with questions and a growing sense of uncertainty.

The unease from the day’s events lingered as he tried to relax. The phone message was troubling, and Leon felt a nagging sense that something was deeply amiss in his seemingly perfect life.
