CHAPTER SIX: MAKE HIM MINE

'AURTHOR'

The alley was dimly lit, with shadows creeping along the walls of the surrounding buildings. The scent of damp concrete hung in the air, adding to the tension of the moment. Eun-ha waited in the deepest corner, her eyes glinting with a sinister ambition. The sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the alley, and a figure approached, trembling slightly. It was the maid from Soobin’s house, her eyes wide with fear.

Eun-ha's lips curled into a wicked smile. "You’re late," she said softly, though her tone carried a threat beneath the calm.

The maid bowed her head, her hands clutching at the edges of her uniform. "I—I came as fast as I could."

"Good," Eun-ha said, her fingers toying with the small vial in her hand. It was a dark liquid, barely noticeable in the dim light, but its power was unmistakable. She extended the vial toward the maid. "Take this."

The maid hesitated, her gaze fixed on the vial as if it were a snake ready to strike. "What…what is it?"

Eun-ha's smile widened. "You don’t need to know the details. Just mix it into Yeonjun’s food. Once it's done, you’ll be free of all your worries. And rich." She thrust a large bag of money into the maid’s other hand. The clinking of coins and the rustle of bills filled the air, but the maid seemed more terrified than tempted.

The maid's throat bobbed as she swallowed hard. "And if something goes wrong?"

Eun-ha’s eyes darkened, her voice dropping to a near-whisper. "Then it will be your fault. And you know what happens to people who fail me, don't you?"

The maid shook her head, her hands trembling as she clutched the vial and the money. She didn’t dare say anything more. Her fear was palpable, and Eun-ha enjoyed it. She relished the power she held over others, the control she wielded in her pursuit of Soobin. Once Yeonjun was gone, Soobin would be hers. The thought filled her with an almost childlike glee, though her laughter was anything but innocent.

She chuckled, a low, evil sound that echoed down the alley. "Soon enough, Soobin will have no choice but to fall into my arms. Yeonjun’s death will open the door to everything I’ve ever wanted." Her eyes glittered with malicious delight as she stepped closer to the maid. "Now go. And remember—if you fail, it won’t be Yeonjun you need to worry about."

The maid nodded, fear in her eyes as she scurried out of the alley, clutching the poison and the money as if her life depended on it.

Eun-ha watched her leave, the smirk still on her lips. She turned her back to the alley, walking away with a sense of satisfaction. The wheels of her plan were in motion. Soon, very soon, Yeonjun would be nothing more than a memory. And Soobin… Soobin would belong to her, no matter the cost.

'CHOI YEONJUN'

The clinking of silverware was the only sound that filled the dining room as Yeonjun sat across from Soobin. The space between them felt like miles, though it was only the length of the table. Neither of them spoke, but that wasn’t unusual these days. Yeonjun hadn’t expected much conversation anyway. The silence between them had become a familiar companion, one that didn’t bother him as much as it used to.

He glanced at Soobin briefly, noticing how his husband's gaze was focused on his plate, distant, almost absent. Yeonjun sighed inwardly and picked up his fork, poking at the food on his plate. It wasn’t like he wanted to talk either. Their relationship had always been complicated, but lately, it felt like they were drifting even further apart.

Yeonjun took a bite of his food, savoring the taste for a moment. But then, something felt off. His throat suddenly tightened, and an odd burning sensation started to spread. His eyes widened as he coughed, the sound sharp and involuntary. At first, he thought it was just a minor irritation, but then the pain grew worse, his throat constricting as if it were being squeezed shut.

He coughed again, harder this time, but nothing helped. His hand shot up to his throat as the sensation became unbearable. Panic set in, and his vision blurred slightly as he struggled to breathe. He could hear Soobin’s chair scrape against the floor as he rushed to his side, but the pain was overwhelming, and Yeonjun couldn’t focus on anything but the searing agony in his throat.

“Yeonjun!” Soobin’s voice was frantic, filled with worry, as he knelt beside him. “What’s happening? Can you breathe?”

Yeonjun tried to respond, but his voice was gone. He gasped, his chest heaving, his hands clawing at his neck as if that would somehow release the chokehold on his airway. His vision swam, the room spinning as his body fought for air. Soobin grabbed his arm, pulling him up from the chair in a hurry.

“We’re going to the hospital,” Soobin said urgently, his voice shaking with fear. He practically dragged Yeonjun out of the dining room and toward the car. Yeonjun could barely walk, his legs weak, his lungs burning with each failing attempt to get air.

By the time they reached the car, everything was a blur. The only thing Yeonjun could focus on was the unbearable pain and the tightening grip around his throat. Soobin shoved him into the passenger seat, his hands trembling as he fumbled with the seatbelt, muttering something about the hospital, about getting there in time.

Yeonjun’s head lolled to the side as they sped down the road, his body limp. The world outside the window was fading fast, the lights and buildings blurring together. Soobin’s panicked voice barely registered in his ears. The pressure in his chest was too much, his body growing weaker with every passing second. His vision darkened at the edges.

The last thing he heard before everything went black was the sound of Soobin calling his name, his voice filled with desperation.

And then, nothing.
