There's was a murder of a 14-year-old girl of the name Judy Tidwell back in 1980, Tidwell's body was found lying face down in the creek around Old Hwy 63. She was murdered and thrown off the iron bridge, there were whispers of her being pregnant and wanting to keep the baby, but the man so struck her in the head with a rock and dumped her off the iron bridge. old friends on social media today comment on posts about her or photos grieving her young death, over years her death has become part of the tales, there have not been any updates on the case causing it to likely go cold over the decades, but it is unlikely for the case to be unraveled after the years of no evidence, but there have multiple suspects that gone into custody, but that does not mean that the one person who did this is the one serving time.
Athena and I decided to go and explore around the bridge where a woman was reported lying face down in the creek. I live on Caryville mountain not far from the coal-mining town and we wanted to hang out somewhere, so we settled on Red Ash.
Athena offered to drive since she lives right on the edge of the mountain, we buckled in and left with some knowledge of the woman that was found in the creek right at the iron bridge. I knew a section about Tidwell, but Athena on the other hand had no clue what happened. On the way there I told her the tale that has surrounded Campbell County since 1980, the year the murder happened.
We parked in a spot near the train tracks that was right at the bridge, every time we tried to walk towards the bridge there were vehicles that would drive by, we finally got the chance to walk to the bridge. Looking down at the creek caused me to go into a total shock, I was petrified, Athena saw me turn around and hold my chest, she never saw me like this, she knew it was not an everyday thing.
I muttered trying to tell her what I saw, I finally calmed down, I saw a vague flashback of a woman being pushed into the creek off this very bridge, and she was lying face down on the rocks of the creek. I grabbed onto Athena as she pulled me off the ground, I ran down into the creek to see if I could see the woman again, she was not there.
Athena chased after me as I went deeper into the creek, she knew I have always believed in ghosts and history like this, but today was the day she believed. We tried going back numerous times but there was no sign, we believe she only shows herself the day she died, or her birthday.
