Ari was about to die if he didn't start breathing soon. "Can you die after finishing the waffles? I might start to think you don't like my cooking." His elder brother pouted at him, like the little shit he is. Ari deadpanned at him.

"Wow. I'm really feeling the worry." Ari watched his brother, Ragnar, roll his eyes before continuing to scarf down his waffles. That's when his dad decided to join the conversation, calmly sipping at his coffee as he stood over the table.

"You shouldn't worry too much. How different can it be to your other school?" Ari looked at his dad like he just said the stupidest thing on the planet, "No disrespect dad, but we are on a different continent. It's going to be different." Ragnar chuckled off to the side, pointedly ignoring their dads glare.

"Alright. So it will be different, it won't be the end of the world. You went through your first year without any trouble. I'm sure you can make it through this time too, alright?" Ari's dad looked at him pointedly.

Ari groaned, "Yeah..."

Ari's dad gave him a warm smile, a half hug, and a kiss to the side of his head before heading off to his office. Ragnar looked at Ari with conviction, "If anyone gives you trouble, you tell me, alright? I will shove a raccoon so far up their ass they won't even know the meaning of a raccoon when I'm done with them."

Ari gave him a weird look, "A raccoon? Only one?" Ragnar looked shocked and positively delighted, "Can you fit more?"

Before Ari was given a chance to answer their dad called from down the hall, "Stop talking about buttholes and get out of my house!" The two brothers laughed while quickly getting ready to leave.

"Bye!" "Love ya, dad!" They called into the home, waiting to hear their dad shout back before leaving in a rush.

"If I'm not in time for my first day of school cause of your butthole talk, I'll make sure you don't have one by the end of the day." Ari threatened , speeding up his pace to a jog. Ragnar scoffed in response.

"Hey. At least two people in our house have to have an asshole." They got many weird looks from the other people on the streets for that one. Ragnar saw the bus stop he was going to and gave his brother a shove, "See ya at home, bitch boy."

"Life is pain I hate-" The rest of his sentence was cut off by mysterious forces beyond our control. He slowed down his pace, afraid of getting to school sweaty- or even sweatier than he already was.

When he saw the school he was simultaneously relieved and unrelieved. He found it and was on time but that also meant he had to go inside and interact with the other students. He walked in, looking casual and lax, but on the inside he was crying for a mom he didn't have to come pick him up, he's scared.

He had barely processed walking into the school when he was approached by an old man wearing a tacky suit, "Hello, I have never seen you before and you don't look like you're from around here, therefore, you must be the new transfer student!"

Ari was devastated. Why would he shout like that this early in the morning. Ari took a step back and hoped it wasn't too noticeable, "Uh, yeah."

The old man smiled like he was the model for a toothpaste commercial, "Splendid! You are new here, therefore, I shall show you to your class. I am a trustworthy and honourable man. Therefore, you should follow me." Ari was now sure this man was anything but trustworthy and honourable, but he had no other choice but to follow.

"Here it is, class 3! Therefore, you are in the third class. You will need to be introduced to your classmates. Therefore, your teacher will call you in shortly. I am a busy man with a school to run, therefore, I must leave you here. The students in this class seem friendly, therefore, you should have a good time here. You will be in my school, therefore, I will see you around, goodbye." The old man turned away and strutted down the hall. Ari barely understood a word of what he said, but all the same, he never wanted to see that man again.

The door in front of him opened, and a teacher popped their head out, "You can come in now." Ari could barely take a breath before he was ushered inside and forced to stand at the front of the classroom facing, what will be, his future classmates.

The teacher looked at him expectedly, "Why don't you introduce yourself to the class?" Ari could probably come up with a dozen reasons or so, but he didn't bother. Preparing himself for the death of his already zombified social life, he cleared his throat.

"Hi, I'm Ari. I'm in Iceland and moved here for my dads work. I hope we get along." He really wished he had rehearsed that a few times before coming here, but it was too late for wishes now. The classes' eyes seemed to glow for whatever reason, and a few hands were enthusiastically thrown into the air. They didn't seem to notice his little grammatical error. The teacher pointed at one of the students and told them to ask away. Ari has never wanted to be swallowed whole as much as now.

"Isn't Iceland a tourist country?" The girl asked, Ari was struck with the realization that he had to answer her, why couldn't she just google it? "A little, but people also live there."

The teacher pointed at the next one. "What does your dad do for work?" Ari had literally no idea, "He works finance, I think." He was sweating so hard, when will they let him sit down.

Another hand shot up. "Do you have any siblings?" Why they were asking these questions was a complete mystery to Ari, "Uh, yeah. I have an older brother."

"When did you learn Japanese?" "About a year ago when dad got the work." "Is Iceland covered in ice?" "No, not at all." "Have you ever dated anyone?" "No?"

Finally the teacher had enough and told Ari to sit down. Ari had never felt so relieved. Now just to make it through the day without any more social interaction, it can't be that hard. Right?

[Saiki POV]

There had been talk about yet another transfer student today. The thoughts, as well as the talk, of his fellow students were much more than headache inducing, it was more along the lines of brain-death inducing and all Saiki really wanted was to go home and eat the coffee jelly he had tucked into the corner of the fridge yesterday.

"Hey buddy!" Saiki craved death. Nendou swung his arm over Saiki's shoulder, "Have you heard all the talk about a new student?" He plunged his pinky into his ear and started digging, "What do you think they'll be like?"

Saiki prayed that they were normal but at this point he was sure he never got to have what he wanted, at least concerning his social life. Kaidou stalked up to them, looking confident in his steps while his mind ran a mile a minute.

("What if they're a girl?? Maybe I'll finally get to hold hands with a girl! Other than my mom, of course") he leans against Saiki's table and crosses his arms, "We shouldn't worry too much about this new student, I sense that they'll bring us good fortune." Kaidou says, as if that meant anything. Nendou scoffed, "I sense bullshit!" Kaidou gasps in offence.

Saiki tries to tune out of all the noises, all the thoughts about the new student, the groups of his classmates talking about who knows what, and the two idiots bickering in front of his table. He really doesn't need any more nuisances this year.

The next thing he knew, the teacher came in, advised them to be nice to the newcomer, and practically dragged the transfer student to the front of the classroom. All the excited thoughts in the classroom dulled almost immediately.

("Oh, it's a dude") ("He's kinda cute, I guess") ("A new buddy!") ("Wow, someone needs to go on a diet") ("I'll need to introduce myself at lunch, he'll be so thankful that someone as beautiful as me is talking to someone like him") ("He looks so... normal")

Saiki was shocked. This guy looked completely normal and sounded normal too, as he introduced himself to the class, if not a bit anxious. When the new guy was told to sit down, he practically jogged through the classroom before plopping down onto his seat, conveniently placed right in front of Saiki.

It was only when the thoughts died down a little, and the teacher started to drone on about the study material that Saiki noticed he hadn't gotten a single thought from the new student. He couldn't hear a single one of the new student's thoughts.

Saiki's shoulders sagged. The new student wasn't normal after all.
