Alice's last period ended, Biology, she rested during the whole class, undisturbed by her teacher, she got up and left, on the way out she bumped into Cassidy who was hanging a promotional banner for the incoming prom in the hallway. Alice quickly apologized before helping Cassidy hang the banner.
"Did you do it yourself? I love it!" Alice pointed out the big 'Wethersfield Crystal Ball 84!' painted in pastel blue and blood red on the white sheet, glitters decorating the extremities.
"Yup, I did. But Noelle helped me out, you know her artistic skills." Cassidy laughed. "Are you coming?" She got down from the box she used for support after hanging the banner.
"Coming? Of course, I will! I've signed up to be a chaperon for that night." Alice smiled.
"Teachers love you, you'll get accepted I just know it." Cassidy grabbed the wooden box she used as support before facing Alice.
"They loved me last year because I was a good student, but this year... Eh... I don't feel it." Alice scratched the back of her neck.
"You are a study tutor and you're part of the Honors Society and the Yearbook comity since sophomore! Trust me, even if this year is tough, you'll get through." Cassidy opened her arms.
Alice joined the hug. "I'm so exhausted... Studying has never been this hard." She replied.
"It's been like this for everyone... You're not alone don't worry, and the good news is that that jerk that bothered you last year won't attend school anymore. I know cheering for something bad happening isn't great but at least you have something to be happy about?" Cassidy smiled with pinched lips, a bit uneasy.
"Yeah... I heard that he got into an accident... Feels bad but I guess karma took enough care of him." Alice scratched her arm.
"Yeah, that guy fell from a ladder! How dumb is that? But the good thing is this year you won't need to look behind your shoulder because he won't be there bothering you all day." Cassidy gave a reassuring smile.
"At least you see things on the bright side. But yeah you're right, good riddance." Alice laughed despite her eyebrows betraying her worry.
"Always see things on the bright side, otherwise you won't move on from things." Cassidy chuckled.
"Yeah, I guess you're right, I might start doing that." Alice smiled in return.
"See you tomorrow!" Alice added before going downstairs.
As she descended, she passed next to a guy she had never seen before, he wore a purple and gray jacket, too-long jeans, terse fawn hair, dark brown eyes, a smirking face, and a pair of silver earrings he looked at her up the stairs and even turned around, thinking he was sly to see her. Alice never saw him this close, but he had that strange aura that Alice could not hypothesize about.
She gets in the hallway filled with lockers, she sees friends of hers in the distance. She packs her stuff that was in her locker, she glances at pictures of her friends and others on the inside as she gets her books and stops for a moment, a timid smile on her face. Unexpectedly someone jumps on her shoulder. It was Judith; her closest friend since the beginning of high school. She was energetic and touchy, always positive, a true butterfly.
"Are you leaving already?" Judith asked with a concerned voice.
"Yeah, my mom needs me tonight! Sorry, I cannot stay for book club!" Alice lies, she wants to go home, she is so tired.
"No worries, I was just asking! See you tomorrow!" Judith acknowledged before hugging her friend.
"I have to hurry upstairs though; Noelle and Chloe are waiting for me there! Juliet already left."
