THE NEXT DAY, EVELYN HAPPILY GOT DRESSED, since she no longer had to worry about school for the next week and a-half, she basically just did whatever she was told by her father.Today, Buck was taking Evelyn to the frustration so she'd at least have someone watching over her at all times.
Evelyn was on her phone while sitting in the couches. Buck was downstairs, working out because he wants to be perfect for the stupid calendar.
Evelyn saw something she wanted online but sighed as she remembered that Buck had to approve. Evelyn got about half way down the stairs when she saw Buck having a go at the newbie who now she knew of as Eddie.
Evelyn sneakily walked closer so no one saw just so she could listen in just as Eddie was talking, "I know you're going through some personal stuff right now."
"What personal stuff?" Buck smiled, stepping closer to Eddie who held his ground.
"I know your girlfriend recently broke up with you and you're coming to terms with that." Eddie nodded, "I know you've also got a daughter who's obviously trying to come to terms with the fact that it's just you and her."
Evelyn's brows furrowed, she was happy with it just being her and Buck. To be honest, she didn't really like Abby anyway.
"No, I'm not. And she didn't break up with me. And my daughter is not 'coming to terms' with anything, she's happy." Buck said, turning to look at Chimney, "Who told you that?"
Chimney continued his workout, counting his rep or whatever. Evelyn doesn't know this stuff anyway.
"I'm just saying I hear you're a good guy, and... I'm sorry you're going through pain, but... you don't need to take it out on me or-or be threatened by me. We're on the same team." Eddie said softly.
"Why would I be threatened by you?" Buck asked in confusion.
"Exactly. There's no need to be." Eddie smiled, "We do the same thing. I've just done it while people are shooting at me is all." Eddie then went back to the punching bag.
"We're not broken up." Buck said loudly but not quite shouting, "And my daughter is fine."
"All right." Eddie shrugged while Chimney laughed. The bell went off later that night and all the firefighters left the station.
Evelyn's phone went off and she swiped the green button, "Hey, who is this?"
"Hello, Evelyn." A distorted voice spoke.
"Uhh, hi." Evelyn chuckled, "Who is this? Is this a joke?"
No answer.
"Hello?" Evelyn said again.
"You're very pretty." The distorted voice spoke, "Just sitting there. All alone..."
Evelyn sat up from the couch, looking everywhere around her before hanging the phone up. No one but her was there. She didn't settle for the rest of the time she was alone.
"Evie! Come on, home." Buck smiled up at where his daughter was.
Evelyn sighed and quickly walked down the stairs, she quickly ran over to her father who smiled at her. Evelyn tucked her phone in the back pocket of her jeans, "Can we go, please?"
"Evie? What's wrong?" Buck said, noticing the worried and scared expression on his daughter's face.
"Nothing!" Evelyn snapped, "Sorry, can we just go?"
"No." Buck snapped back, "Tell me what's wrong."
"I got a call. While I was alone and you were at the job." Evelyn said, looking at her surroundings, "Someone was watching me and I'm scared."
"W—what are you talking about?" Buck said, shaking his head, "Is this one of your jokes? Cause it's not funny, Evelyn."
"What's going on?" Bobby asked walking over to the father and daughter with Hen, Chim and Eddie.
"Evelyn's playing one of her jokes again but she's going too far this time." Buck said, placing his hands in his pockets.
"I'm not!" Evelyn shouted. Her phone buzzed, making her pull it out again. Her eyes scanned over the number, "This is the number from before."
Buck snatched her phone, answering it and putting it on speaker, "Who is this?"
"Who's this?" The distorted voice spoke.
"I asked first." Buck snapped, "Why are you calling Evelyn?"
"Well she looked so lonely earlier, so bored. I thought I'd have some fun." The distorted voice spoke, cutting out at parts.
"Stop calling her. She doesn't want to talk to you." Buck said, glancing at his daughter who was hugging Hen.
"Do you really think her dad telling me to stop will stop me?" The voice laughed, "Such a pretty girl."
The person in the other end of the line hung up and Evelyn continued hiding in Hens arms.
"Evie, come here." Buck sighed, Evelyn quickly ran into his arms and he picked her up without hesitation. She hid her face in his shoulder, not wanting to see the sympathetic faces that were being sent her way.
"You can come stay with me and Karen if need be." Hen suggested with a smile.
"We'll be alright." Buck smiled, "I'm sure it's just a prank caller."
"You don't seem so sure about that." Bobby said.
"We'll see you tomorrow." Buck said and walked out of the station, straight home where he sat in Evelyn's room all night, holding her while she slept.
