It had been a few weeks since their confession, and life had become more beautiful and sweeter for Abhimanyu and Akshara. Abhimanyu loved the fact that his day began and ended with his wife in his arms. Their routines didn't change, but they woke up a few minutes early most days just to kiss, cuddle, talk, or just look at each other before their day was taken up by the kids and their work. Their intimacy had not gone beyond tight hugs and gentle kisses. It was not that Abhimanyu did not want to go beyond but he could feel a subtle hesitance, although Akshara responded to his kisses with equal passion. He understood that she came with a lot of baggage and didn't want to rush into anything. Anyway, he was just happy being in her presence, loved by her and also to get the chance to love her back.
For Akshara, his new phase of her life brought immeasurable happiness, something that she hadn't thought that she would ever experience in this lifetime. But there was an underlying fear that she could mask but not get rid of completely. Somewhere she knew that she could tell everything to Abhimanyu. She also knew that he deserved to know everything about her past. Anisha had said that Abhimanyu would understand but she could not shake the fear of being judged, although no action of his had ever indicated that he would. But their relationship was new, and she was still apprehensive. That didn't mean she didn't enjoy their moments. Everyday, Abhimanyu, his words, actions, and even a single glance would turn her into a blushing mess.
Right now, dawn was about to break and Akshara was caged in her husband's strong arms, feeling his warm breath over her head. She managed to turn around and opened her eyes to admire his gorgeous face. Abhimanyu had come really late at night. Even she had a busy day with the kids' exams coming up in a month's time and her own assignments piling up. She had tried to wait for him while reading a book, but didn't know when sleep had engulfed her. Somewhere in the middle of the night, she had felt him getting into bed, pulling her into him, and kissing her forehead. But she was too tired to even open her eyes and had only sighed and cuddled into him.
Akshara ran her thumb under his eyes. He looked tired. Last night he had told her that he had to go to the hospital late today, over the phone. While there was no need to wake up early, she knew that the kids would barge in any time, wanting their morning time with their Baba. To ensure that he was well-rested, Akshara had decided to spend time with the kids in the morning. She never wanted to take away his special time with his kids, but was also equally worried about his health and felt that she could do this once in a while. To make sure that she was up before the kids woke up, Akshara pressed a kiss on Abhimanyu's forehead and got up from the bed, by gently prying away his arms.
Akshara quickly completely her morning routine and stepped into the kids' bedroom. It was already 6, the time the kids woke up. Although it was a weekday, it was a holiday for the kids. But Abhir and Roohi had slept on time and she was sure that they would be awake on their usual time. Right on cue, Roohi woke up rubbing her eyes, not clocking on Akshara's presence, who stood at the door just observing. Roohi got down her bed and headed to Abhir's bed.
"Abhir, wake up. Baba must be waiting for us." Abhir shot up from his bed. "Yes, yes. but I need to use the washroom first."
"Ya, go. I will go after you," said Roohi, while Akshara looked amused. Her heart melted at the fact that the first thought that the kids had in the morning was about their Baba. She knew that they missed him throughout the day, but still she wanted to give a few extra hours of sleep to Abhimanyu. Anyway, he had to go late of work and the kids had an off, so they could easily spend time after he woke up. Before Abhir could enter the washroom, she decided to make her presence known.
"Good Morning, my babies."
"Mumma," they shouted together and ran towards her. She sat on her knees and engulfed them in her arms.
