i walked back into the bar, my smile so wide it felt like my face might split in two. the lively atmosphere was a welcome contrast to the quiet garden outside, and my heart was pounding with pure, unfiltered joy.

i spotted addy at our table, her denim dress and black leather jacket standing out against the backdrop of neon lights and dancing bodies. her brow furrowed as she took in my exuberant mood.

"hey, addy!" i called out, practically bouncing with excitement. " i'm so happy right now, let's make tonight sparkle like a unicorn even more!"

addy looked up from her drink, her expression a mix of curiosity and amusement. "you look like you've just found a pot of gold. what happened?"

i waved my hand dismissively, still glowing from my recent encounter. "oh, nothing much. just had a really great chat with someone outside. just one of those moments that remind you to appreciate the small things in life, you know?"

"really?" addy asked, her eyebrow arched skeptically. "what was so special about this conversation?"

"it was just... wonderful!" i said, practically dancing on my feet. "we shared a cigarette, talked about life, and it made me feel so alive and grateful. a smile can just brighten up someones day."

addy's brow lifted in amusement, but she didn't press further. "well, i'm glad you're in such a good mood.  well, you always are. i've been so focused on wedding planning lately that i forgot to enjoy the night."

"exactly!" i said, sitting down beside her with a flourish. "it's not just about big events like your wedding. it's about finding joy in the everyday things. sometimes we get so caught up in our routines that we forget to appreciate the small stuff."

"sounds like you've had  a bit of an epiphany," she giggled , her lips curling into a small smile. "i'm happy for you. but you don't have to share every detail if you're not up for it."

"oh, it's not about the details," i said with a playful wave of my hand. "it's about the feeling. and right now, i'm just feeling so grateful and happy. it's like, we should all try to spread kindness and joy. society often overlooks kindness, so i strive to make a difference and be kind, even if it's just my individual efforts."

addy chuckled softly, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "whoa, imogen you're like the sweetest person ever. i mean like, you're so cute and kind, it's almost too much. like how are you even real? you're just amazing, honestly. but i'll try to remember to enjoy the night. but don't expect me to start dancing on tables or anything."

"come on!" i said, grabbing her hand and practically dragging her out of her seat. "let's make the most of tonight! life's too short to be serious all the time. let's have fun, dance, and enjoy the moment!"

she laughed, shaking her head but clearly amused. "alright, alright. but you're going to have to show me how it's done."

"deal!" i said, pulling her towards the dance floor. the music was thumping, the crowd was buzzing, and i felt like i was on top of the world.

as soon as we hit the dance floor, i let loose, swaying and twirling with unrestrained energy. my arms were in the air, and my feet were moving in time with the beat.

"come on, addy!" i shouted over the music, my voice filled with excitement. "let's dance!"

addy hesitated for a moment but then joined in, her movements initially a bit reserved but gradually becoming more relaxed as she caught the rhythm.

we danced together, laughing and reveling in the joy of the night. the music seemed to fuel our energy, and we were lost in the moment, our spirits soaring higher with each beat.

"this is so much fun!" i shouted, breathlessly taking a quick break to catch my breath. "i'm so glad we decided to come out tonight!"

"me too!" addy shouted back, her laughter mingling with the music. "i didn't realize how much i needed this!"

"it's all about enjoying the small things like i said ," i slurred, my energy barely contained. "we should always remember to spread kindness and find joy in every moment."

addy smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "you really are something else. but i have to admit, tonight has been pretty amazing."

"it really has," i agreed, beaming. "and we still have a whole night ahead of us. let's make the most of it!"

as the night wore on, our drinks continued to flow, and the dancing became more frenetic. i felt like i could dance forever, my happiness bubbling over into every movement.

addy was still keeping up, though she was starting to look a little more wobbly on her feet.

"i think we might have had a bit too much to drink," i blurted with a giggle, swaying slightly as i tried to steady myself. "maybe we should call it a night soon."

"yeah, i think you're right," addy said, her voice slightly slurred. "but let's dance just a bit more before we go."

we continued to dance, but it was clear that we were both reaching our limits. addy's steps were getting more erratic, and i found myself struggling to keep my balance. finally, we decided it was time to call it a night.

"i'll call jacob," addy said, pulling out her phone with a look of determination. "we need a ride home."

i watched as she dialed the number, her fingers moving slowly but steadily. "thank you, addy. you're the best."

"just doing my job as your my maid of honor," addy muttered with a tired smile. "but next time, remind me not to drink so much."

"deal!" i said, laughing. "but tonight's been amazing. i wouldn't trade it for anything."

addy finished the call and looked at me with a relieved expression. "he's on his way. he should be here soon."

"great!" i echoed, feeling a wave of exhaustion but still buzzing from the night's excitement. "let's find a spot to sit and wait for him."

we made our way back to our table, both of us swaying slightly as we walked. i plopped down into a chair and leaned back, feeling the weight of the night catching up with me. addy sat beside me, her head resting against the back of the chair.

"this has been a night to remember," i said with a contented sigh. "i'm so glad we came out."

"me too," addy said, her eyes closing as she smiled. "it's been a much-needed break from all the wedding planning."

"and we've had so much fun," i smiled, my voice filled with warmth. "it's been perfect."

a few minutes later, jacob arrived to pick us up, and we managed to stagger to the car with his help. he helped us into the backseat, and as we settled in, i couldn't help but feel a deep sense of satisfaction. the night had been everything i had hoped for and more, and i knew that no matter what happened next, it would be a cherished memory.

"thank you for picking us up," my voice slightly slurred but still full of gratitude.

"no problem," jacob said with a chuckle. "just make sure you two get some rest."

"will do," addy said, leaning against the window with a tired smile. "thanks, babe."

as the car pulled away, i looked out the window, watching the city lights blur by. the night had been a whirlwind of fun and laughter, and i felt incredibly lucky to have shared it with addy.

it was a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there were always moments of joy and happiness to be found.

with a contented sigh, i closed my eyes and let the exhaustion take over. the night's adventures would soon turn into fond memories, and i knew that tomorrow would bring new opportunities for joy and discovery.

for now, though, i was happy to drift off to sleep, knowing that tonight had been truly special.
