The first week of classes passed in a whirlwind of syllabi, campus tours, and late-night bonding sessions with Michelle. Camille found herself settling into a routine, the initial excitement of New York City giving way to the more mundane realities of college life. But beneath the surface, her thoughts continually drifted to Steve Carlson and the lingering tension from their dinner encounter.

It was Friday afternoon when Camille's phone buzzed with a text from Michelle:

"Emergency study session needed! Bio midterm next week. Meet me at the library in 30?"

Camille smiled, grateful for the distraction. She'd been staring at the same page of her Comparative Literature textbook for the past hour, her mind wandering to places it shouldn't.

"On my way," she texted back, gathering her things.

The library was bustling with students, the air thick with the collective stress of impending exams. Camille spotted Michelle at a table near the back, her blonde hair piled in a messy bun atop her head, a look of intense concentration on her face.

"Hey," Camille said softly, sliding into the seat across from her roommate. "How's it going?"

Michelle looked up, her green eyes wide with panic. "I'm totally screwed," she whispered. "I thought I understood this stuff in class, but now it's like... gibberish."

Camille reached across the table, giving Michelle's hand a reassuring squeeze. "Take a deep breath. We'll figure it out together, okay?"

For the next hour, they pored over Michelle's notes, Camille doing her best to help despite her limited knowledge of biology. As they worked, she couldn't help but notice the way Michelle's brow furrowed in concentration, so similar to the intense look she'd seen on Steve's face.

"You know," Michelle said suddenly, leaning back in her chair, "maybe we should ask Steve for help. I mean, he is the professor, after all."

Camille felt her heart rate quicken at the mention of his name. "Are you sure that's a good idea? Won't it seem like... I don't know, cheating or something?"

Michelle waved her hand dismissively. "Please. Half the class is probably getting private tutoring. Besides, he's going to be my stepdad. Might as well milk it for all it's worth, right?"

Before Camille could protest further, Michelle had pulled out her phone and was dialing Steve's number.

"Hey, Steve! ... Yeah, we're at the library... Actually, I was wondering if you could help us out. I'm kind of struggling with this midterm prep... Really? That'd be great!"

Michelle hung up, a triumphant smile on her face. "He'll be here in twenty minutes. Said he was on campus anyway for a faculty meeting."

Camille nodded, trying to ignore the way her pulse had accelerated. She told herself it was just nerves about the impromptu study session, nothing more.

When Steve arrived, Camille's breath caught in her throat. He was dressed casually in jeans and a soft-looking sweater, his dark hair slightly tousled as if he'd been running his hands through it. Their eyes met for a brief moment, and Camille felt that now-familiar jolt of electricity.

"Ladies," Steve said, pulling up a chair. "What seems to be the trouble?"

For the next hour, Steve patiently walked them through complex biological concepts, his deep voice a soothing counterpoint to the library's hushed atmosphere. Camille found herself mesmerized, not by the subject matter, but by the passion with which Steve spoke about it. His eyes lit up as he explained intricate cellular processes, his hands gesturing animatedly.
