Cami sighed, rolling her blue eyes at her stubborn best friend.

The two were in the middle of a playful argument about their plans for the night.

Cami was all in for going out, while Blake was firmly against it.

Blake was usually the first to jump at the chance to go out and get fucked up, but today she was just too tired.

Cami, on the other hand, was determined to attend the party, especially since her ex was hosting it and she wasn't about to go without her partner in crime by her side.

"Blake, please, it'll be fun!" Cami pleaded, now straddling her best friend's lap.

Blake sighed loudly, crossing her arms. "Fine, but if it's boring, we're leaving."

Cami jumped off the couch, clapping her hands.

"Yay! I love you so much!" She planted a kiss on each side of Blake's face.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Blake laughed, watching the blonde bounce around before getting up and heading to the bathroom to start getting ready.

Cami Carter had marched right up to Blake at recess, asked her if she wanted to be her friend, and that was it.

From that day forward, they were inseparable, the perfect duo.

Cami was the wild, carefree spirit who was always ready to dive headfirst into life's adventures, while Blake was the level headed one, constantly reining her in well, trying to, at least.

Together, they balanced each other out, and everyone knew it. Whether it was dominating school projects, taking over parties, or just being the life of the room, Blake and Cami were a top tier duo.

But as close as they are, Blake couldn't understand one thing about her best friend.. her obsession with her ex, Dylan James.

Cami was beautiful blonde hair, bright blue eyes, with a smile that could light up a room.

She was smart too, top of her class growing up and destined for something great.

Yet, for some reason, Cami had this constant need for male validation, and it drove Blake crazy.

Dylan James was the worst.

He was an alcoholic football player who cared more about partying than his relationship with Cami.

Every time they broke up, Blake hoped it would be the last time, but Cami always went back to him.

It made no sense to Blake. Her best friend deserved so much better than some washed up jock who couldn't get his life together.

Blake couldn't figure out why Cami kept selling herself short. Maybe it had something to do with her family.

The Carters were well off, no doubt about that.
