"I found the bright pink lipstick first, then the underwear that wasn't mine came along, and messages she desperately tried to hide from me showed up on her phone. I wasn't as stupid as she thought I was, I knew she was cheating on me. I also knew she wasn't going to come out alive when she got home that night. If Ivy were smart enough she wouldn't have come home that night, she should've gone home with her play toy. But lucky for me she wasn't smart enough.""I knew Ivy had been cheating on me for a while, I knew after I confronted her the first time that she wouldn't stop. She craved that adrenaline rush from sneaking around, trying to hide things from me. But she was never smart enough to hide things well. She would always slip up within the first week when she found someone new. She'd forget to shower off their perfume before coming home when she claimed to be working late, or accidentally let them leave their belongings at our house. The first few times I confronted her over the cheating, I saw that spark in her eye. She thought this was a silly emotional game she could play on me. Well lucky for her two can play at that, but my game will have long-term effects on both of us."
"But this time, I had her location on an app I installed on her phone. I installed it when she was showering and she thought I was asleep. But I wasn't I was just pretending until she went to take a shower so I could take her phone. I did this a lot, I needed to know the names of the other girls she was cheating on me with, so I could let their partners know what their significant other was up to."
"I knew she was at a club when she told me she was going to be at her sister's house to watch her sister's kid. But she was at the club downtown, it opened up very recently so she would have a clean start. I paced around that living room probably a hundred times that night, constantly checking my phone, to see where she was. She went from the bar to a cheap motel in the bad part of town. It was a motel she had gone to lots of times before. I thought about driving over there and just doing things at that motel, but wouldn't have been fair to that other girl she was with. So I waited hours and hours for her to get home."
"When she got home I was around four in the morning. That's when she got home most days when she went to the bar. She expected me to be asleep, but I was still awake. My stomach was in a million knots as I thought about everything she had done to me and how things were going to end that night. I thought about the countless photos and videos she had taken with other girls. I thought about the first time I confronted her and how happy she seemed to get. I thought about the first time I found that bright pink lipstick that neither of us would have ever worn, how she told me it was hers but I knew her or the person I thought I knew would never wear that shade. I thought about all of our relationship and whether it could even be saved. But it couldn't we would never be the same. I thought about just packing my things and leaving but, that would have been too easy on her. I needed her to feel the pain she caused me over the years, I needed to see her face when I confronted her. I needed to see that stupid little smirk one last time. I needed her to tell me she would change, to give her one last chance that this time would be different."
"I sat on the leather couch, the one where her body lay. My stomach was in knots, as I ran my fingers over the blade of the knife. I imagined what her screams would be like when I stabbed her. How she would plea with me to stop. But I wasn't going to stop, I did feel bad in a way about what was about to happen. But all those feelings of guilt quickly vanished when she walked through that door."
"She walked in with that same smirk she always gave me, I hated that smirk. I hated everything about her now. She didn't notice me at first, since the room was mostly dark. There was the light from the street shining through the windows. "Welcome home," I said softly, Ivy looked taken aback like she wasn't expecting me to be awake. Which was understandable since I was typically asleep by the time she would be getting home. "fuck.." Ivy mumbled under her breath."
"Ivy turned on the lights in the living room. "You're dressed like that to watch your sister's kids?" I asked her in a condescending tone. "I-" Ivy was taken aback. "I just went to the club for a little bit, dealing with the kids was stressful and I needed to let off a bit of steam," Ivy spoke biting her cheek, hoping I would believe her lies. I didn't I knew she never went to her sisters. "Tell me the truth Ivy" "What?" She spoke in a confused voice. "I know you never went to your sisters' house, you went to a club." Ivy took off her heels, as she looked at me with panic in her eyes. "are you tracking me now?" Ivy's voice shook slightly, as I got up from the couch."
"You think I'm that stupid not to? You have cheated on me more times than I could count. I should have left you the first time you cheated on me. But I was too stupid to think you would change." "Luna please.." Ivy whispered out. "I'm sorry I am, I promise I will change this was the last time," Ivy said to me as she walked towards me, I laughed gently as I held the knife behind me. "Why should I believe that Ivy? All you do is lie to me." "Luna baby please I promise this is the last time," Ivy told me while putting her hands on both of my cheeks. I saw that sparkle in her eye, that same disgusting sparkle I saw every time she tried to convince me she would never do this again."
"I promise I love you, Luna. You're my everything, I promise I'll never hurt yo.." Ivy's eyes widened as I stabbed her in the stomach. "Luna.." Ivy choked out. "You promised you would never hurt me again right? Well, I'll make sure of it now." I spoke coldly to her, pushing the knife deeper into her. Blood was pouring down her red dress. "Luna.." Ivy gasped out as I laid her on the ground slowly."
"I pulled the knife out of her, before stabbing it back into her. Tears started to roll down my face, all the anger all the hate. Everything she had done to me just came pouring out. I needed her dead I couldn't deal with ever seeing her again. I began stabbing her again, screaming her name. I guess the neighbors heard me screaming her name, and they called the cops." Luna told the detective who was interrogating her. She spoke calmly and politely. She was still in her bloody clothes, blood still splattered on her face.
"Is that all that happened?" Scott asked Luna. "Yes, sir that's all that happened. The cops showed up, they questioned me a bit. Asking who Ivy was to me, asked if it was a case of domestic violence, and then they took me here." Luna told him. "Okay well thank you for your openness," Scott spoke softly to Luna as he wrote down her statement. He had never done a case like this. Yes, he had done homicides, but never one quite like this.
"So.." Scott cleared his throat as he put his pen down. Looking over at Luna, who was still in her blood-soaked clothes. She didn't seem upset, no she seemed at peace. She had been calm this whole time. "We will get you a lawyer, is there one you would like to use?" "No" Luna laughed gently. "I know I'm going to jail, I just made a full confession there is no point in wasting my money on a lawyer. So please just get me a court-appointed lawyer." "Okay we will do that." Scott looks up at the time, it's barely 6 in the morning. "The lawyers we use don't open til 9 so we will get you booked into the system get you some fresh clothes and let you take a shower," Scott told Luna as he got from his chair, walking toward the door. "Thank you for being so cooperative," Scott said as he left the room.
