The university campus was wrapped in the calm of the afternoon. Students hurried back and forth, but on a secluded bench under the shade of a large tree, Lisa and Taehyung shared a moment of quiet.
Lisa sat with a cup of coffee in her hand, gazing thoughtfully into the distance. Taehyung was beside her, his eyes fixed on the ground, lost in his own thoughts.
After a prolonged silence, Lisa broke the stillness. "I heard you're doing really well abroad," she said, her tone casual but filled with curiosity.
Taehyung glanced up briefly, then returned his gaze to the ground. "Yeah, it's been a tough but successful year." His voice carried a note of melancholy, and it seemed he wasn't eager to share more than necessary.
Lisa observed Taehyung, noticing his distant demeanor. "And how do you feel about that?"
Taehyung remained silent for a moment, as if grappling with his emotions. Finally, he turned to Lisa with a look of vulnerability. "Let me ask you something, Lisa. Did you ever love me?"
Lisa was taken aback by the question, and her first reaction was to laugh softly while looking down at her coffee. It wasn't a laugh of mockery, but a mix of nostalgia and understanding. "I'm not sure I can answer that simply." Her tone was soft and contemplative. "But if you're asking if I ever felt something deep for you, the answer is yes."
Taehyung nodded slowly, as if digesting her words. "Thanks to you, I enjoyed every single day of high school, thanks to you and the others." His voice was filled with gratitude and a tinge of sadness.
Lisa turned to Taehyung with renewed curiosity. "And you, Taehyung, did you love me?"
Taehyung chuckled softly, his laugh light and full of nostalgia. "Every single one of my days in high school belonged to you." His words were heavy with a feeling that didn't need to be made explicit to be understood.
Silence settled between them once more, but this time it was a silence filled with understanding and reflection. The atmosphere was thick with unspoken emotions and shared memories that had shaped an important part of their lives.
Finally, Lisa broke the silence. "We've changed, and our lives have taken different paths, but there will always be a place for those memories in our hearts."
Taehyung looked at Lisa, his gaze a mix of admiration and longing. "Yeah, those memories will always be a part of us."
As students continued to pass by and the sun began to set, Lisa and Taehyung remained on the bench, sharing a moment of connection that, despite time and distance, was still deep and meaningful
