Every one hundred years a cycle takes place on the continent of Einix, two children are born marked as the Hero and the Demon Lord. The cycle has begun again and a young woman discovers that she is to play a part in it.

Five millennia ago on the continent of Einix, the Demon Lord waged war on the surface; it is unknown as to his reasons why. The war lasted for many years, with many deaths until a Hero fought his way through the demon armies. The Demon Lord met the Hero in battle inside his own castle; that he had risen from the underworld. The battle lasted for days, until the Hero was able to strike a killing blow on the Demon Lord. As the Demon Lord died, his castle falling back into the underworld, he swore his power would return and that another would be born bearing his mark. The Hero quickly escaped from the descending castle, his opponents last words still echoing in his ear.
The Hero upon returning, sought an audience with the mages of fate, those who could see and affect fate in small ways. They confirmed that the Demon Lords power would return in one hundred years. The Hero asked that they use their power to ensure that his power, the power of the Hero, also return at the same time. The mages used their combined magic to grant his request. So that in a hundred years not only would someone be born with the mark of the Demon Lord, another would be born with the mark of the Hero.
So every hundred years, two children are born with marks somewhere on their bodies; one is the Hero and the other the Demon lord. And as had happened when the original two clashed, the Hero killed the Demon Lord in what became a never-ending cycle. The armies and generals of the Demon Lord continuously awakening and then falling back into a deep sleep to await the next Demon Lord.
Authors note: This is my first time posting on Wattpad, and the first time in a long time that I have written anything. I was inspired to write this by a character chat AI and it is mostly written for myself, but I hope if anyone does read this that they enjoy it. Any art used in this story is also AI generated as I am not a great artist and can not afford to commission art. The whole story is already completely written and I have posted the first chapter along with the prologue, but the rest of the chapters will be once a week. I might also cross-post this to Archive of our own under the same username. This will probably be the only authors note on this story unless I feel the need to address anything.
