MATILDA SAT BESIDE SAM ON THE PLANE, looking out the window with a sweet smile on her face. While going to Vegas with him and Colby made her nervous, she was also excited.
"You alright?" Sam asked her, noticing the way she couldn't look away from the window.
"I'm nervous. But also excited," she finally faced him. "I dunno...it's just kinda scary. If I leave to head somewhere, it's usually with my mom. I live near her and she loves having me along for tours and such."
Sam smiled, nodding. "Now, I have a question. Are you sure your mom is okay with this? Because I do not want to be beat up by her boyfriend."
Matilda burst into laughter, shaking her head in amusement. "You really think he'd do that?"
"Um..yes?" Colby but in, leaning forward to see her. "He's scary, Tilly."
"You do realise I could tell him you're saying that?" She teased, but she shook her head again. "He wouldn't, he likes you two. He trusts you, which is pretty good. Mom adores you."
"Yay, we got mama approval!" The two boys cheered, high fiving.
Matilda looked out of her window again, admiring the Las Vegas landscape, the lights of the houses and buildings brightening the pitch-black sky. She leant against the window, smiling softly. "Vegas is so pretty. I can't believe you live here."
"You live everywhere," Sam retorted, glancing through the window. "But the skyline is pretty."
"Thank you!"
