Prologue

Darkness thickened over the city as the last rays of sunlight vanished beyond the horizon, surrendering the night to the cold wind. The streets, usually bustling with life, now seemed oddly deserted, as if the city was holding its breath, waiting for something inevitable.

Felix walked quietly on the damp cobblestones, his footsteps echoing in the empty alleys. The air was thick with the scent of rain that had recently swept through the area, leaving a sticky moisture in its wake. In his hands, he held the case files that had troubled him for weeks. A series of disappearances, seemingly unrelated, tugged at threads that eventually led to local legends and mysterious artifacts that no one wanted to talk about.

He glanced at the old, tattered map of the city that he had managed to obtain. A red X marked the spot where everything was set to begin—a dilapidated, forgotten house on the edge of the forest that had stood empty for decades. It was said that this place held more than anyone could ever suspect.

As he continued onward, Felix couldn’t shake the feeling that someone—or something—was watching him from the shadows. His heart raced at the thought of an impending encounter with a past that had never truly disappeared.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the city, Hyunjin stared at the canvas that had remained unfinished for months. The lines and shapes that once seemed clear and understandable now formed a chaotic swirling pattern. Returning to the city had awakened memories he had tried to suppress. But now that he was back, he knew he couldn’t run from his past.
