The most successful people are those who are good at plan B.

Haven Pierce's POV
Nico's suggestion for me to seduce Santi so he'll do my bidding was one massive epic fail. I couldn't bring myself to entice a man it's so embarrassing. Besides, I felt awkward and artless the whole time. I am sure Santi's previous women were far more sophisticated than me and he's not taking me seriously the whole time I've tried my best to stop the excruciating feeling of shyness while trying to be bold in front of him.
Now Nico decided we should have a plan B.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked him helplessly as we lay on the lounge on the chairs beside the pool. "What if it will just become an epic fail also?"
Nico looked at me beneath the sunglasses he wore I could perceive the disapproving look in his eyes at the moment. "Do you want to catch the Don or what?"
"I do," I answered reluctantly pouting my mouth slightly.
He resumed his position of laying on his back facing the sun. "Then, you have to listen to me if you want to catch my elusive cousin."
I sat up from the lounge chair and then focused my attention on him. "What if this will not work again? I mean, do you know how embarrassing it was whenever I remember how I attempt to seduce a mafia boss?"
Nico's mouth curved with a smile. "Yes, I've realized my mistake now. You're too innocent for such an act. We need to try something new to allure him. If you manage to make him fall in love with you then he might stop being cranky all the time and allow the rest of us to do our work without him being a tyrant.
I looked at him dryly. "So you're just using me as bait, is that is? You're not really after helping me out of the goodness of your heart but for your own benefit?"
He smirked at me heartlessly. "You must know by now that I am not a kind person. I will always do everything that I think I will benefit from in the end. Let's just say for now you are the perfect person for the job."
I don't know if I would laugh or scorn at him. He was brutally honest and wickedly smart his position as consigliere suits him well. "So what's the plan B? Need I remind you that I don't want to capture his heart using my body I don't think I am sexy enough for that."
He gave me disapproving frown once again. "Don't ever lower yourself while comparing to others. You are beautiful in your own way. Now for our plan..." he grinned devilishly at me. I don't think I trust that kind of smile on his face. "...you have to ask him to teach you about self-defense."
"Excuse me. I don't think—"
He raised his hand to stop me from talking. "Hear me out first, will you? This is going to be fun I assure you. As I said, you will ask him to teach so basic self-defense, and if he refuses then you'll tell him that you will just ask me to teach you instead. The main goal here is to make him jealous with our teaching session."
I couldn't help but admire his plan. "You're wicked do you know that? But do you think this will work? I mean, he kept on saying that he's not a jealous type of man and he's incapable of loving someone. What if our plan fails?"
"It will not," he shook his head resolutely. "Trust me, I know my cousin more than any other living person. He was just saying thought bullshits but deep inside he's still a man who is capable of all of that. He just needs to find the right person to evoke those feelings buried deep inside his heart." He stared at me intently. "And that person might be you."
