Arna's fingers trembled as she dialed Kriti's number, her heart racing with every passing ring. Vedraj's impatient gaze bored into her, his anger simmering just below the surface. After ten agonizing attempts, Kriti finally picked up, her irritated tone slicing through the air.
"What's wrong, Arna? Can't you see I'm busy?" Kriti snapped, her voice dripping with disdain.
Arna's voice trembled, "Mam, please...it's time for the wedding. Please come fast."
Kriti's laughter was laced with mockery. "Wedding? Ha! Don't be ridiculous, Arna. I'm busy. Do whatever you want, but keep me out of it. Just make sure no one discovers your little charade. I don't want my name dragged into this mess." Her words cut off abruptly as she disconnected the call.
Arna's face crumpled, her eyes welling up with desperation. Vedraj's anger boiled over, his face thunderous.
"What did she say?" he demanded, his voice low and menacing.
Vedraj felt a deep pain inside when Kriti spoke so carelessly. Her words hurt him terribly, making him feel like she never truly wanted to be with him. He thought they had a real connection, but now he realizes she doesn't care. This thought makes him feel empty, betrayed, and heartbroken. He's struggling to hold on to his emotions, feeling like his world is falling apart.
Desperation clawed at his heart, and he swiftly dialed his personal assistant's number.
"Find Kriti," he ordered, his voice laced with urgency. "I need to know where she is, now."
Fifteen agonizing minutes ticked by before his PA called back. Vedraj's grip on his phone tightened as he listened to the words that would shatter his world.
"Sir, Kriti... she's gone," his PA stammered. "She's with someone else."
Vedraj's face drained of color, his breath catching in his throat. The room spun around him, and he felt like he was drowning in a sea of despair.
As he disconnected the call, his phone buzzed with notifications. Pictures flooded his screen Kriti laughing, smiling, and embracing another man. The images seared his heart, each one a razor-sharp slash to his soul.
Vedraj's world crumbled. His eyes stung, and his vision blurred as tears threatened to spill. He felt like he'd been punched in the gut, unable to breathe.
"How could she?" he whispered, his voice cracking. "
Vedraj looked at Arna with a strong gaze and held her hand tightly. "I will get married today and you will be my wife," he said firmly.
Arna was shocked and scared. "What? No, sir! This can't happen!" she said, trying to pull her hand away. But Vedraj didn't listen.
"You were just a replacement, but now you're mine," he said, his eyes fixed on her.
He started walking towards the door, pulling Arna with him.
"No, sir! This is impossible! I'm just filling in for Kriti mam!" she begged.
Vedraj's face turned stern. "Marry me or you'll be in big trouble, Arna. You'll lose your job and your reputation will be ruined, as I will blacklist you if you go against my words."
Arna was terrified, her mind was racing with terrifying implications She knew as the CEO of Agarwal Industries Indian branch her professional future will be obligated, but it was the thought of her father's reaction that truly terrified her.
Arna stood still on her place.Vedraj lifted Arna's veil and covered her face. He held her hand tightly and started walking towards the wedding area. Arna's heart was racing. She felt like she was walking into a nightmare.
