Once upon a time, in a sewer far below...
A rat was giving birth.
This particular rat was named Janet - a lovely name for an extremely lovely rat. Rats valued thinness, and a lack of curves, at all costs. Many an unlucky rodent had gotten plastic surgery, in an attempt to gain their desired body, but Janet was all natural - She looked barely like a rat at all, just a thin layer of skin upon an even thinner mesh of bones.
Perfect, a flawless icon of rodent beauty standard... and this made her desirable.
It was almost no surprise that she married Jerome, the future Ralpha (rat alpha) of their subterranean pack. He was nearly as lean as her, and held a tremendous amount of power and influence.
She'd grown pregnant almost immediately after the ceremony, and now, nine months later, the whole pack was watching the birth excitedly. Who could blame them? Two of the most attractive and powerful rodents in their sewer - everyone wanted to see what flawless child they would produce.
Janet let out a shout - "it's coming!" Jerome sucked in a breath, as did the rest of the onlookers...
And then they all screamed.
It was hideous - instead of an exposed ribcage and lean, muscular body, this... thing was curvy.
Like, really curvy.
"GET IT AWAY FROM ME!!!!!" screamed Janet furiously, tears streaming down her hollowed-out snout. Her dutiful husband, blushing furiously at the sheer embarrassment of a hideous heir, grabbed the newly-born ratling and tossed it into the sewer.
It let out a pitiful cry, before sinking slowly into the waste. The gathered rats watched, soundless and shocked, at the submerged silhouette floated slowly down the pipe.
The couple turned to the spectators once the child was out of view, shaking furiously.
"THAT... abomination never came out of me. You never saw it."
The pack nodded rapidly, terrified of Janet and the Ralpha.
"As far as we're concerned, that... volumptous rodent... never existed."
