*Chapter 1 - The Unyielding Gaze*

The stony darkness crept in like a thief, shrouding the town in an impenetrable veil of rain and shadow, as if the very heavens themselves were warming of an impending doom that lurked just beyond the flickering streetlights. "

His golden eyes exuberated charm and danger, both.

People were intrigued as well fearful of his proximity.

He was Lan Wangji.

The TERROR.

&

The Miracle

BOTH.

Morning: 10 a.m

Dr. Wangji's eyes narrowed as he scrutinised the patient's chart.

Another routine case, another opportunity to exercise control. His gaze lingered on the patient's name -

Emily Wing.

He committed it to memory, a habit he'd developed over the years.

As he entered the hospital room, Emily looked up, her eyes locking onto his.

She was hardly 27 years old.

Wangji's expression remained impassive, a ' mask' he had naturally accumulated for his own convenience.

He approached her bedside, his long strides devouring the distance.

"Good morning, Miss Wing," he said, his voice firm but detached. "I'm Dr. Wang. I'll be overseeing your treatment."

Emily's gaze searched his face, seeking something - warmth, perhaps, or empathy.

Wangji's eyes remained unyielding, a fortress guarding his emotions.

As he remain unfazed by Emily's astonishing eyes, checking her vitals--

Wangji's thoughts drifted back to his residency days, where he'd earned the nickname "The Scalpel" for his precision and detachment. He recalled the first time he'd had to make a tough decision - a patient's life hung in the balance, and he'd chosen to save the more "valuable" one. The memory still lingered, a faint whisper of his indifferent nature under extreme conditions.

"Dr. Wang, you're needed in Room 304," a nurse interrupted his reverie.

Wangji nodded curtly and made his way to the room.

Inside, he found a young intern, trembling, as she tried to explain the patient's sudden deterioration.

Wangji's gaze swept the room, his eyes lingering on the patient's chart.

"Withdraw the treatment," he said, his voice firm. "This patient is no longer viable."
