The sound of metal hitting wood filled echoed in the distance. There stood a teenage girl with short brown copper hair, holding a long silver sword. She stood in the middle of the woods , next to her , a hammock is tied tightly around two tree trunks as high as it would go. The girl held her sword with both hands, and positioned her body in a fight stance, with all her strength she swung the sword across from her. The sound of wind slicing , followed by aloud thwak sound came from the tree trunk as her sword stuck sideways from the tree trunk. Within a millisecond a couple of daggers flew towards the tree truck stabbing tree trunk with a powerful force. The girl is now crouched down her arms and outward from her in a black widow stance , her eyes fixated on her target.

Its been a year, a whole year and she wasn't able to find her mom. She remembered arriving at her work, which was crawling with the Infected. She nearly lost her life going inside. Blood covered the walls like a haunted house. Most of the infected were too busy eating people to notice her. She can still clear as day hear the sound of flesh and bone being ripped and torn apart.

The smell of blood in the air was so strong it nearly made her pass out from nausea. She had to cover her nose and mouth, while she snuck by them as quietly as she could . There were too many of them her to take on, especially since she only killed one at the time. The image of Beth's head laying on the ground crossed her mind ,somehow she got used to it. Or she became numb to it, either way it didn't bother her as much.

Maria couldn't find her mother in the center, she sereavhed everywhere she could, even when the zombies realized she was there and chased after her. She can't remember how many of them she had to kill in order to escape through a window.

Since then she's been on her own. Surviving, and killing the infected.she lost cunt of how many she had killed within the year. If this was 2 years ago she'd be named a serial killer and she would have been locked up or executed, but it's not, this is the real world she is now living in. A world where the zombies took over.

They've been getting stronger faster even smarter. Some can pass as humans even. The governments can't figure out how to detect them not how they became to be. My theory, those damn scientists did something to cause this. And shell be damned if she let's them get away with it. She had to kill her best friend and many other people she ran into who got infected.

She's tired of killing, tired of being in survival mode. She wished things were back to how they used to be, but it's too late. This is her reality, she's grown to accept it. That's why her mission is to find her mother, and to kill those scientists who caused the apocalypse.

She's now capable of it, she's killed enough zombies, fast ones, smart ones, human like ones, she's more than capable. She's been training day and night, without a break. Her scars on her body have proven that to be true.

Maria walked up to the tree trunk that has her daggers and sword emeded into it. Pulling each of them out , she tucked them into her thigh holster that's tightly wrapped on either sides of her thigh. She kept two more daggers tucked into her leather boots for emergencies only. She rarely had to pull them out. Maria used her muscles to pull out her sword in which she tucked inside it's own holster that has two leather belts attached to it so she can keep on her back for easy access.

Maria walked over to her makeshift trap, to catch small prey like rabbits and snakes since the world has ended food has been hard to come by. She had to teach herself to catch her own dinner and find her own source of water. There were many nights she had gone hungry and thirsty until she gotten better at fending for herself.

A small rabbit squealed trapped in her trap, frightened. It knew it's time has come to it's end. As much as killing didn't bother her, she still hated to kill animals. So she'd kill them in the most painless, quickest way possible she grabbed the rabbit by it's scruff and laid it on it's stomach . The rabbit wiggled and squealed desperately trying to escape from her grasps.
