Dear Maddie,
I'm sorry for not updating sooner, but I'll make it up to you. Mom got this job at Dennis Papers, and apparently, we have a lot of paper in the house; it's annoying.
I saw them – kids my age – smiling as they went to school. It must be wonderful being out of the house.
Mrs. Pembroke gave me an A; she said I did well. I was happy, but no one reciprocated it to me, not even Mom.
Jack says, "I bribed the teacher." He's probably happy being the only one who has their picture on the wall of accomplishments.
Uncle Neighbor Mark visited last night with a fruit cake; he doesn't know Mom tossed it out.
I've been reading this book, "All He Ever Wanted," and it speaks volumes to me. It's about a boy who just wants to be noticed, loved, held... mostly loved.
Dear Maddie, I feel like you're the only one who gets me. You know, it's like you're my guardian angel, but in the form of a worn-out journal.
For once, I want Mom to tell me she's proud of me...
Some things are better off dreaming than staying awake.
Dear Maddie, will I ever be happy?
Xoxoxo"
