In year 2019, the world was in a pandemic situation due to COVID, which led to a lockdown in India as well. The roads and streets were deserted, and to pass the time, I kept playing PUBG day and night. During those days, I was quite content because there was no place for love in my life; there was no waiting for someone’s message or thinking about someone. I had no such desire. Then September came, and I was busy with my game as usual. Suddenly, a person came into my game who changed my life. A random girl was added to my friend list, and sometimes I used to play games with her. I used to play with my friends, and I would invite her to my team because of that. Time passed, and by 2020, I started considering her as part of my team. I began waiting for her to come online in the game, and eventually, we started talking. I was so shy that I couldn’t even ask for her number, but I let things continue as they were.

As time passed, she seemed to become attached to me, perhaps as a friend, but I started developing feelings for her. She felt different from other girls to me. If I talk about her, she was quite exceptional: her humor, communication, and, most importantly, her self-control and ability to manage her feelings. Then one day, I found out that she was Muslim. It might sound strange, but due to Hindu-Muslim conflicts in India, such communities often harbor biases against each other. However, educated people don’t hold such views and tend to live harmoniously. I couldn’t judge her based on her family's beliefs, but she made her own decisions. Over time, we became very good friends. I thought we would always remain friends, but I noticed that she would spend her nights with me. We exchanged numbers and communicated daily through WhatsApp, Instagram, and Snapchat. I started preferring to play games only with her, leaving out my other friends, because we wanted to keep our conversations private. Everything was going well until June 2020, when a particular day made me realize something: I wasn’t the only one in her life. On WhatsApp, she had posted a story of someone’s birthday with a screenshot showing her gaming character and her ex’s gaming character together. Seeing that made my heart race more than ever.
