Caroline's high-pitched voice echoed through the hallway. "Nicole, open up! I've got something for you!" She knocked on the door with urgency.

Nicole, just out of the shower and wrapped in a bathrobe, opened the door with a hint of irritation. "Caroline, you're going to wake the whole building with that noise."

Caroline, holding a vibrant bouquet of red roses, handed it over with a smile. "Look what I found at your door!"

Nicole took the bouquet, her eyes widening as she took in the flowers. Unlike the earlier arrangement, which had been a mix of lilies and daisies, this bouquet was a classic presentation of red roses. The roses were fresh and velvety, their deep crimson petals contrasting beautifully against the green, lush foliage. The bouquet was tied with a simple yet elegant silk ribbon, adding a touch of sophistication.

Caroline glanced up at Nicole, puzzled. "Another bouquet from Evan Sterling?"

Nicole nodded, her excitement palpable. "Yep, and this one's different from the last. The first was a mix of flowers—more casual. But these roses are definitely a more personal gesture."

Nicole examined the bouquet closely. "It's strange. I don't even know who this Evan Sterling is, and yet he keeps sending these elaborate gifts."

Caroline's curiosity matched Nicole's. "He must really want to get your attention. There's a note with this one too."

Dear Nicole,

I need to meet you. A vehicle will be picking you up tomorrow at 5 PM.

Please be ready.

Best,
Evan Sterling

Caroline's eyes widened as she read Evan's note. She looked up at Nicole, concern etched on her face. "Nicole, this doesn't look great."

Nicole, still holding the bouquet and the note, furrowed her brow. "What do you mean?"

Caroline handed the note back to Nicole. "This is pretty direct and a bit intimidating. I mean, he's asking you to meet him without giving you much information, and the fact that he's sending a vehicle to pick you up feels really... off."

Nicole's expression shifted from curiosity to unease. "I hadn't thought about it like that."

Caroline nodded. "Yeah, it seems like he's being very forward and controlling. It's important to be cautious, especially with someone you don't know."

Nicole bit her lip, clearly troubled by Caroline's words. "So, what should I do?"

"I don't know but I think I'll go." Nicole responded.

Caroline followed Nicole into the apartment, still looking concerned but willing to support her friend. Nicole headed straight for her bedroom, leaving Caroline in the living room.

Nicole quickly changed into a more presentable outfit, choosing something casual but put-together. She returned to the living room, where Caroline had taken a seat on the couch, her eyes fixed on the bouquet of roses.

Nicole walked over to the coffee table and carefully placed the new bouquet beside the old one, which she had been keeping on display. She took a moment to arrange the roses, adjusting the stems and making sure they looked their best.

Caroline watched, trying to mask her worry. "So, are you still planning to go?"

Nicole nodded, her expression a mix of determination and apprehension. "Yeah, I think I am. I'm curious about what Evan wants, but I'm going to be cautious. I'll make sure to let someone know where I'm going and keep the details to myself until I know more."
