EVELYM WAS FINALLY ALOWED BACK into school and she was with her friends again. She hadn't gotten any calls or messages so she was in a good mood. She was currently sat with her friend — Mia — as they are their lunch. Evelyn wasn't too hungry so she was only having a sandwich and an apple with some water.
"Evie?" Mia froze, the ground began to shake massively, knocking part of the roof down which narrowly missed Evelyn and Mia.
"Mia, go." Evelyn shouted, standing up. Mia did the same, starting to run out the room and to the gymnasium. That's where they were told to go if there was ever an earthquake.
On the way there, another part of the roof fell in the hallway, unfortunately Evelyn was right under it, causing it to hit her off the head, knocking her out cold.
When Evelyn woke up, she was at in the gymnasium, a bandage wrapped around her head and Mia beside her. Mia instantly hugged her friend, "Oh, I'm so glad you're okay!"
"Thank Mimi." Evelyn smiled, she reached up to touch the back of her head, wincing at the contact when her fingertips grazed the bandage and moved it slightly, "What happened?"
"You don't remember?" Mia asked in concern, "The earthquake started and on the way here... a part of the roof collapsed on you. Luckily you only hurt your head but the nurse said you could've died because of the way it hit you."
"What?" Evelyn shook her head before grabbing her phone which was beside her, "I need to call my dad."
"The cell towers are out. All lines are disconnected. We're off the grid, Eves." Mia sighed, grabbing Evelyn's hand, "We're stranded."
"Oh, god." Evelyn sighed, looking around at all the students, "Where's Diana?"
Mia looked down, shaking her head, "She... the roof collapsed in on her, she didn't make it Evie."
"Oh my god. That was her fear." Evelyn sighed, hand over her mouth, "She said she never wanted to die from an earthquake, she was getting ready to move away, so she'd feel safe."
"I know, Evie. But it was just too late." Mia sighed, gently sitting next to her friend and waiting for all this to be over.
By night, Evelyn and Mia were still there, no one could come pick them up. Unfortunately, Mia's parents showed up and she had to leave so Evelyn was alone with some teachers that were trying to get contact with anyone, no one was answering.
"Hi, we're here to pick Evelyn Buckley?" A male voice spoke. Evelyn looked up from her position on the floor.
"Michael!" Evelyn smiled, standing up and walking over to him and May.
"You okay?" May asked, getting a nod back.
"Will she be safe with you?" The teacher asked and Michael nodded. May and Michael took Evelyn to their home where Michael changed her bandage.
"You're gonna need stitches." Michael said, wrapping a bandage around Evelyn's head.
"Great." The Buckley groaned, a large headache building, "My head is pounding."
"Headache?" May asked, glancing at her dad as Evelyn nodded.
"I think you've lost more blood than we thought." The Grant man said, worry coating his voice as he spoke, "We're gonna drop you off at a hospital and we need to go help people, okay?"
Evelyn nodded. When she was dropped off, she had a volunteer watching her around the clock, changing her bandages and all that.
When Evelyn became faint, the volunteer called over actual doctors because they because worried. The Buckley girl doesn't really remember anything after that, she'd lost so much blood that she passed out.
