Neya's POV

*I hope Kayla can come over tonight. I already have a plan to scare her, she'll be so freaked!* I thought to myself as I walked down the street on my way to school. When I got to the school I saw Nick, my ex. I hate him so much I wish that he didn't go to the same school as me. I tried to walk past him but he grabbed my arm pulling me into him. "Woah, where are you going sweetheart?" "What do you want Nick?" I asked him as he smirked at me. "Straight to the point I like that. Here's the deal, I need you to get me and my friends into the bar this week." I grumbled and pushed him away. "You know I'll get in trouble, I can't do that!" I yelled at him and some guys around us started to laugh and he looked at them and they shut up. "Well, why not? You used to do it all the time?" "Because I don't like you anymore, plus last time my dad said that if it happens again he'll ground me." I said and I ran off before he could say or do anything else. I got into my classroom and saw Elizabeth. "Hey Neya!" She yelled and I looked at her and just sat down. She looked at me as if I had wronged her somehow and turned around staring at the wall as if disgusted by it in some way. I sighed and reached for her hand, she looked at me angrily. "Sorry Liz, I just haven't had the best day so far. Sorry for taking it out on you, I just had to deal with Nick." I said, her demeanor quickly changed from angry to loving. We then heard the voice of our best friend and quickly pulled apart hoping she hadn't seen us holding hands. *Kayla can't find out, not yet anyway.* I thought to myself waving to her. "Hey Neya,Elizabeth! I'm really sorry Neya, my parents said that I can't come to your house because I have to watch my brothers and sister." "It-" "But! I have a plan, so I'm going to sneak out the house and..." I stopped listening to her, *How rude! Has no one taught her that it's not nice to interrupt someone who's talking.* "Why would you do that!? Your mom is going to ground you and she'll hate you forever." I heard Liz yell. I realized Kayla had finished telling us her plan and I wasn't listening at all. "What do you think Naya? Am I being selfish?" She asked me, and I had to be honest. Not just to her but also to myself. "Well...You can't just leave your siblings at home with no one to watch them. I mean just think what could happen to them, there's been some really bad reports lately and just think what could happen to them." I said letting out all my thoughts all at once without thinking about it. "What! There's no way that's true! I watched the news everyday this week and nothing of the sort was reported!" I looked at her in shock. "Did you really? Are you sure because I watched the news everyday and I heard all about it. I think what you meant to say was 'I turned the T.V to the news because mom asked me to and I sat on my phone while it was on' didn't you?" Liz said, smiling at Kayla. Kayla blushed and nodded. "Well I could have but it's so boring and it makes me sleepy." Kayla said. "Alright class, settle down." The teacher said and we all stopped talking. - - - AFTER CLASS - - -

Kayla's POV

*Okay maybe they are right. I am being selfish but I'm still going to go! I really wanna go and I've been looking forward to this forever and I really hate that I would have to miss out on it.* I thought to myself sitting on my bed waiting for my parents to leave. "Kayla come lock the door sweetheart!" I heard my mom call me from the other room. I walked into the living room with a huge frown on my face. "Awe, don't be like that honey come here." She said and I headed over to her and she gave me a big hug. "I know she really wanted to go tonight but we have work to do and we can't get a babysitter this late. Besides with what we do and all, I would think you of all people would understand why we can't get a babysitter especially when things are just getting worse and worse." She said and let go of me. She left with my dad and I locked the door and watched them from the window and saw them leave. As soon as they did I ran upstairs to my room. Putting on my running sneakers I went down stairs and checked on my brothers really quick, but before I could go back up Eli saw me. "What are you doing with those on?" "Nothing!" I cleared my throat to get the nerves out of it. " I mean nothing, I just wanted to come check on you guys to make sure you're okay. So... you good?" I asked and Eli stared at me for a minute before nodding his head and then walking away taking a second glance at me, I then heard him say "She's totally trying to sneak over to Neya's." He looked back at me and then back to Mike and talked a bit quieter as he sat back down. I looked back at them and shook my head and ran up to my room, closing the door behind me. I grabbed the closest rope and tied it to the nail in my wall next to the window seal and climbed out.
