"What are you doing here?" Marco whispered to y/n. The chain slowly lowered them down to the storage room. "Be quiet, freckled dear. Talk later." She softly whispered. In the corner of his eye he could see her smiling. Though he couldn't tell if it was an anxious or smug one. The moment they reached the perfect distance everyone held their breath.
It was dim, but the sound of loud footsteps told them that titans were near. The sound of the elevator had triggered one to lumber over to them. The ground slightly shook with each step it took. Marco whispered loud enough for everyone to hear, "Hold."
More titans approached the group. y/n could hear someone near her gasp as a titan's face slowly inched closer. It was so close that someone could have poked its eye with the muzzle of their gun if they tried. y/n's heart raced at the thought of something going wrong and something happening to either of her closest friends.
Though she could find some solace in the fact that she could die trying to save at least one of them. Even if Marco doesn't make it by her covering him with her body, shielding him from any titans. Even if he died shortly after her, she'd at least wouldn't have to see him being killed. There'd be better ways to go out, but if things went to hell, then that'd be the best way to die for her personally.
Just as y/n found herself being able to calm herself, Marco yelled. "Fire!" And fire they did.
The shots weren't synchronized. Everyone shot as fast as they could. It was so loud and a lot more unpleasantly jarring for y/n for some reason. Though she didn't let her sudden shock keep her from following orders for long. Just as planned, the seven jumped down to slice the titans' napes.
For a moment, y/n almost let out a sigh of relief until there was a scream. Two titans were still alive. y/n could hear Sasha curse before apologizing for stabbing it. Not wasting any time, y/n picked up her gun again and pointed it at one of the titans that were turning around to face their attackers. She aimed at the one whose nape was slightly cut. It wasn't deep enough to be killed, but she hoped that maybe a bullet would finish it off. She'd at least have a better chance than with the one without damage to the nape.
Just as she pulled the trigger, nothing came. There were no more bullets. The two titans trudge closer towards Connie and Sasha. With nothing else, y/n pushed people out of her way to jump out of the wooden confinement. Her actions were blind, fueled by adrenaline, and worse of all, insanely brash. As she hiked one of her legs over the thing, Marco pulled her back and nearly made her topple over everyone.
Thankfully, Annie and Mikasa were able to swoop in to save Connie and Sasha. All the titans were eliminated, and now everyone can refill on much-needed gas. Someone yelled up to the person from above to bring them back up so they could grab their gear. There'd be a pause before it began to bring them up.
Marco asked. "Are your hands okay?" y/n was mildly surprised by the question. He should be berating her for her beyond reckless action. She could see that there was frustration on his face by how straight his lips were straight. His eyes still looked at her with concern.
"Yeah. Like I said, my hands are fine." The friends awkwardly stared at each other. While everyone around them celebrated Armin's successful plan. y/n wasn't fond of being yelled at and would rather get it over with. So she cocked an eyebrow and questioned Marco. "You aren't going to yell at me?"
He gave her a sigh. "I don't need to; Jean will do that for me." She cracked a worried smile. Jean was the most loud and aggressive one in their little trio. Her smile would falter as he continued. "But I am annoyed by the whole thing. Everyone's been hearing from Mina about you killing every titan you see. That's good and all, but you nearly get yourself..." He struggled to say the word. He was afraid that if he said it, then it'd come to fruition.
