"We need to ask you both some questions," the officer said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Legosi and Louis exchanged a glance, the exhaustion of the night weighing heavily on them, but they knew they had to cooperate. They followed the officers to a nearby precinct, the ride filled with a tense silence. Each of them lost in their thoughts, trying to piece together how they would explain the complex situation.

Once at the precinct, they were led to a small, dimly lit interrogation room. The lead officer sat across from them, a serious expression on his face. "We've received reports about an altercation involving Riz and the two of you," the officer began, his eyes scanning their faces for any sign of deceit. "We need to understand what happened tonight."

Louis took the lead, his voice steady and composed. "Riz attacked us. We had no choice but to defend ourselves."

The officer raised an eyebrow, looking between the two of them. "And what about the, uh, intimate connection we've heard about between you two?"

Legosi felt his cheeks burn, but Louis answered confidently. "It was consensual. Everything that happened between Legosi and me was with mutual agreement."

The officer looked skeptical, his gaze shifting to Legosi. "Are you sure about that? Do you want to answer some questions away from him?" He nodded towards Louis. "Away from the scary wolf?"

Louis's eyes narrowed, his posture stiffening. "No. We stay together unless we're under arrest. Everything that happened was consensual, and we'll answer your questions together."

The officer studied them for a moment longer, clearly incredulous, but finally nodded. "Alright. Given the situation and the evidence we have, it appears your actions were in self-defense. However, we'll need to take your statements in detail for the record."

Legosi felt a wave of relief, but he was still embarrassed and overwhelmed by the situation. He let Louis continue to lead the conversation, providing details about the night and their encounter with Riz. The officers listened intently, occasionally asking clarifying questions.

By the time they were finished, exhaustion was written all over their faces. The lead officer finally stood up, signaling the end of the interrogation. "You're free to go, but we may need to contact you for further information. Stay available."

Legosi and Louis nodded, grateful for the chance to leave. They were escorted out of the precinct and given a ride back to their school. The journey was quiet, both of them lost in their thoughts, the weight of the night's events still heavy on their shoulders.

As they arrived back at Cherryton Academy, the familiar surroundings brought a sense of relief. They stepped out of the car, the early morning light casting long shadows across the campus.

"We made it," Legosi said quietly, looking at Louis.

Louis nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Yes, we did. And now we need to move forward."

They walked together towards the dorms, the silence between them comfortable and filled with unspoken understanding. As they reached the entrance, Legosi paused, turning to Louis.

"Thank you for everything, Louis," he said, his voice filled with gratitude.

Louis placed a hand on Legosi's shoulder, his expression softening. "We're in this together, Legosi. Always."

Legosi hesitated for a moment before asking, "Are you okay, Louis? And... what now? Between us?"

Louis's eyes met Legosi's, and for a moment, the deer's expression was unreadable. Then, with a deep sigh, he spoke. "We continue with our lives, Legosi. What happened was necessary to protect us both."
