Emily's POV

I sit there blushing like a tomato. I was not expecting Chris to be so forward all of a sudden. "I like making you blush it's cute" Chris says . "No, no its not cute". "It is to me" Chris says and I roll my eyes putting out bowls together. "You go out to the truck, I'll meet you out there" Chris says handing me his keys. "Okay". We stand up and I walk out to the truck as Chris walks to the to the counter. I get in the truck and wait for Chris. I take out and text Layla. everything okay? Layla replies quickly. Everything is all good, don't worry, go have fun. "You could have started the truck babygirl you didn't have to wait on me" Chris says starting up the truck. "I didn't mind". "Ready for the book store"Chris asks? "Yes it's been so long since i had time to actually go into one". "Well I'm glad you get to do something you'll enjoy" Chris says. The rest of the drive to the book store is filled with Chris and I talking. I told him about the early years when Sara was a baby. Chris tells me how he grew up in the club life. We pull up to the book store and park. Chris turns off the truck and comes over to my side door and opens it waiting on me to climb down. I climb down and we walk into the book store "get whatever you'd like it's on me" Chris says and i look at him like he's crazy. "Are you sure books can get expensive"? "Baby girl if you'd let me I'd buy you the whole world" Chris says and I blush looking away. "That's not nasscary i can take care of Sara and i just fine". "Not what I meant but i think you already know that" Chris says. I choose to ignore what he says and walk over to the romance section. After an hour and a half i have picked the books I want and Chris has taken them and helps me place them on the register for the cashier to ring up. "You go get you a drink next door and i will pay and get these to the truck" Chris says handing me a 20$ dollars. "What do you want"? "Just get me a coffee or something"Chris says. I nod and go to the connecting drink shop. I order a smoothie for myself and a cold brew with half and half for Chris. I pay and wait for our drinks. I get the drinks and take them out to Chris and get in the truck. "Thank you for all of this". "Whatever my love wants she gets" Chris says taking my hand and kissing it. "Would you mind stopping by my hour to get Sara her Mr hops"? "Of a course baby girl" Chris says as we pull out of the parking lot of the book store. A few minutes later we pull up outside my house. "You can stay out here while i just grab mr hops". "Baby girl don't get of the truck" Chris says. "Why" i ask looking to my house to see on the front porch is David sitting there. I feel my stomach turn and look to Chris my fear showing. "Baby who is that" Chris asks? "It's him Chris. We need to go". "Nah, I'm not scared of him baby, just stay in the truck" Chris says. "Chris wait"! "Lock the doors after i get out" Chris says and leans over smashing his lips onto mine. I melt instantly all fear and anxiety slipping away. I hold onto Chris afraid to let him go. Chris pulls away and i nod somehow knowing that everything will be okay. Chris gets out of the truck and i lock myself, watching as Chris approaches David.
Chris's POV
I get out of the truck and as soon as i hear the doors lock i start walking to Emily's house. I had already planned on taking care of David later but now will do just fine. I know that my love is watching from the truck. I can feel her gaze fallow me as i approach her ex. I don't know what David thinks he's going to do but I'll be damned if gets to Emily or Sara. They're mine and i will do anything to protect them. The piece of shit stands from where he was sitting on the porch. "Who the fuck are you" David asks? "I'm Emily's man, who the fuck are you"? "I'm David her boyfriend I'm her to take her home" David says. "Yeah, i bet you would. Well i love to tell you this, she's not with or going anywhere with you. But you already know that given she hasn't been with you in five years". "I just want to talk to her alone" David says. "Why? So you can get more hits in". "What! You can't believe that bitch" David says. It takes everything in me not to beck David in the face and put him on his ass but i know Emily is watching not wanting her to see me take care of this with violence and her be scared. "She didn't have to tell me I figured it out on my own, so no you will not be talking to her what so ever, and if i ever hear you insult her again you won't be alive to speak it again". "Look man you know how women can be, sometimes you just have to put them in their place" David says. "No you're just a coward and abuser". "This has nothing to do with you, so get out of my way" David says trying to get to Emily who is still watching from the inside of my truck. In a spilt second my fist hits the side of David's jaw knocking him out as he hit the pavement. Well that was easier than i thought would be. Emily gets out of my truck and runs to me. I met her half way "I thought i told you to stay in the truck". "I saw it was safe enough" Emily says and i pull her into me. "Come on baby girl, let's get you inside and I'll call the club to come get this piece of trash.
