"This dress or this dress?" My friend, Stacy said holding up a dark blue dress and then a white one. I closed my book and looked. The blue brought out her blue eyeshadow but the white seemed more like her.

"Well? I wish you would take this more seriously, they will laugh in our face if they see us like this." She said while issuing her hands up and down at my oversized tee and shorts.

We both had gotten interviews for jobs at the Steele Company. And then I saw the pay. The job was a front desk employee, and Stacy was working for assistant. I would be dumb not to take it.

Stacy cleared her throat knocking me out of my trance.

"I like the blue one." I said curtly, and she nodded. "What are you going to wear?"

Well, I hadn't put too much thought to it. I got up and went to my closet, I scavenged around until I pulled out my homecoming dress from high school. It was a long sleeved red dress that I only used once. I hadn't grown much so I was sure it would still fit.

She held back a laugh. "It's very... nice?" She said with an unsure voice. I rolled my eyes. "It's not a fashion show."

"They won't take us seriously unless we dress the part!" She said with a serious tone.

"The interview isn't for another week, I'll find something before then." I said hoping she would drop it.

But that wasn't the case. "Next week? What do you mean. It's tomorrow!"

I gulped, oh. "Homecoming dress it is." I said with an awkward grin. She sighed and then spoke "You're  lucky you can pull off anything."

I woke up after snoozing my alarm five times, and looked over at the clock. 8am.

The interview was at ten, so I had a good amount of time. I got in the shower and let the hot water run on me. I allowed the water to flow through my hair and washed it thoroughly.

After a good thirty minutes I got out. I brushed out my wet curls and through them up in a towel, deciding not to deal with it right now. I quickly got dressed into the old dress.

I looked at myself in the mirror. I didn't look terrible. I did minimal makeup, just mascara and blush. Of course I ended up smudging the mascara.

I walked out of the bathroom and checked the time, 9:30am.

I grabbed my keys and purse and walked to the front door of my small apartment building. I exited and headed to the subway.

When I got in the bus it was crowded and jammed, I squeezed through people and pushed myself into an empty seat.

I got as comfortable as I could and opened my book. I read until we screeched to a stop.

I stood up and walked out shoving someone on the way, I turned around and shouted "Sorry!" Which was a bad idea because as I did so the doorway was blocked the way, which caused more shoving.

I hurriedly got out of there and looked at my watch, ten minutes!

I ran to down the sidewalk and was about to make it to the crosswalk when the lights turned green.

Just my luck.

I waited, two minutes gone by.

Finally the lights turned red and I walke- ran across and to the other side. I turned a street and that's where I saw it.
