Wangji stood frozen, his mind in turmoil, trying to grasp what had just happened. Wei Ying had walked past him, slipping through his fingers before he could even say a word. He couldn't stop him-he didn't understand anything. His chest tightened, and his eyes filled with tears. I've waited for you for so many years, and now you've just... left. What happened?

He hadn't even confessed his love to Wei Ying yet. The words he had kept hidden for so long, the feelings he had nurtured in silence, remained unsaid.

Wangji was still lost in his thoughts when a familiar sound pierced the air-a haunting melody, played on a flute. It was his song. But this time, the tune was laced with a deep sorrow, a pain that resonated with separation. The agony of being torn away from someone precious.

In that moment, he remembered Wei Ying's words: "Lan Zhan, will you walk with me forever?"

Suddenly, it all made sense. His love wasn't one-sided. Wei Ying felt the same. He loved him just as much. That was why he had asked Wangji to walk this path with him, to stay by his side.

Wangji's breath caught in his throat. Could it be true? His heart swelled with an overwhelming joy, and tears slipped from his eyes, but this time, they were not of sorrow. He didn't hesitate anymore. Without wasting a second, he turned and sprinted in the direction Wei Ying had gone, his legs moving faster than his thoughts. He had to find him. He had to reach him before it was too late.

On the mountaintop, Wei Ying stood, his back to the world, playing the flute. The wind carried the mournful notes through the air, his soul pouring out through the music. The melody was beautiful, yet so full of pain.

Then, from behind, a voice broke through the music, soft but unmistakable.

"Wei Ying."

Wei Ying froze. His breath hitched, and the flute slipped from his lips. The sound faded, leaving only the whisper of the wind. Slowly, almost afraid to believe what he had heard, he turned around.

There, standing at a distance, was Wangji. His eyes were shining with tears, and he was looking directly at him-only at him.

For a moment, neither of them moved. The world seemed to hold its breath. Then, without warning, Wangji started walking toward him, his pace quickening with each step. His gaze never wavered, and his expression-usually so controlled-was open, raw with emotion.

Wei Ying's heartbeat thundered in his chest. His mind raced. He didn't know what to say, what to do. All he could do was stand there, frozen, as Wangji closed the distance between them. Each step felt like a lifetime, yet it all happened in the blink of an eye.

Wangji reached him, his chest rising and falling with the intensity of his emotions. His eyes, those deep, piercing eyes, were filled with something Wei Ying had never seen so openly before-love, pure and unfiltered.
