I walked around with my morning coffee towards Sofia's room. We arrived back two days back and she's been in her room since sleeping. "Jet lag," she says.
It's the first of the month, Sofia's birthday month. Leonardo sent me a message saying he increased guards and I should too. He sent a list of precautions for this month for some reason.
Just as I pass her room I hear a muffled scream. Sofia's voice. There are sounds of struggling and a deep voice cursing at her.
I take my gun from my pocket and swiftly soot the handle of the door.
"Stop struggling." I hear a male voice curse in annoyance and another muffled scream arises.
I kick the door open and step in just in time to see a man dressed in heavy black attire with a hood and mask glare at me as he gracefully jumps out the window with a Sofia over his shoulders. Her mouth is taped and so are her arms and legs. She doesn't give me desperately alarmed eyes, instead, they are calm and serious.
She locks eyes with me and motions my gaze toward the ceiling above her bed just as the view of her leaves. I glance at the ceiling above her bed and read the name she had made with a bunch of tiny pocket knives thrown at the ceiling.
"Riley." is the name spelled out on the ceiling.
It's almost almost invisible to see if you don't know exactly where to look. The guy who took her most definitely didn't see the message.
I want to chase after her but the look she sent me flashes in my mind. She had a warning but calming expression saying 'Don't chase us.' She acted with her eyes a lot and the message was always clear.
"Don't chase us. Call Riley."
How am I supposed to contact Riley? I'm sure Ryan knows her but does he have her contact? Same situation with Ace.
I take out my phone and call Ace. He has to know Riley's contact information. As her oldest brother, he has to at least care the slightest. Those two look almost identical yet Ryan is Riley's twin.
"Yes, Alessandro?" Ace answers tiredly.
"I need a way to contact Riley, Sofia's friend, immediately," I inform him while walking to my office hurriedly.
"Riley as in my..."
"Yes. Sofia has been kidnapped and Riley is the only person who can help us."
Ace understands and within minutes he's called Riley to meet us at my house. Not only does Riley come but Ryan and another one of Sofia's minions tale along.
Ryan being him barges into my office and bombards me with questions. Sofia's other minion glares at me like she's about to murder me. Riley is the calmest of all, she stands awkwardly next to Ace creating a visible space between them.
She knows something and looking at her she has a plan but something is bothering her.
"Spit it." I glare at Riley. She looked jumped at my tone which was somewhat ruder than I intended.
A strange anger has been swimming around my nerves for the last half an hour since Sofia has been taken. I didn't mean to snap at Riley like that but anything that could help find Leonardo's daughter is not to be kept quiet. I only care the slightest because she's Leo's daughter. I wouldn't care otherwise. I won't.
"You know something. Say it. Even if it needs thinking." I clarify.
The other people in the room are quiet. Ryan, Riley, and Ace avoid eye contact with each other but glance at each other every other minute. The other girl just glares at me like she's about to murder me.
"The other day Sofia and I went to get a tracking chip inserted. Sofia had a deal that might come unexpectedly this year so put out a reminder a week before the month started. She was right as we can see and she has about 3 of them in her body we can track." Riley admits, trying to get us to understand.
A chip? They inserted a chip into her without telling anyone. They knew she was going to get taken. They knew.
She knew.
Before I can take a breather I feel my hands itch for violent contact. I feel hot anger boil up inside of me. I feel the need to take out my anger.
"You took her somewhere unknown to insert a fucking chip into her while knowing she was going to get kidnapped and you didn't think to tell me?" I grit out with an unfamiliar anger.
Ace stand closer to me with a warning look.
"We didn't see it necessary." Riley grumbles
"I'm her fucking husband I should know if Sofia is about to get kindapped or chips inserted into her."
Ace grips my shoulder.
"Relax we have a way to track her now." Ace warns and I take a deep breath of annoyance.
"Where the pad." I ask Riley calmer that before.
"I have them with me. There not updated yet. The owner needs to activate it."
"So tell the fucking owner to activate the chip."
"Stop yelling at her." the other girl that has been standing there yells. She was Sofia's maid of honor at our wedding. She also sat with Ryan after Sofia and I...
"Call whoever made it and tell them to activate it as fast as possible." I finalize with an end tone and Riley nods with a huff.
Riley takes out her phone to call the owner of the chip. I feel Ace grip my shoulder then nod towards the door and I grunt but follow him out.
I'm in a grumpy mood, feel like beating the shit out of someone. I feel like if I had woke her up earlier or walked passed her room before that, maybe even if we slept together last night. She won't be missing right now. But she is. And I somehow feel responsible for it.
"Ales you need to hold yourself together. I'm not sure how much Sofia means to you but that doesn't mean you need to order people around. Especially my sister." Ace grits out as calm as he can be. Which isn't so calm.
What does Sofia mean to me?
She was never more than a bother when we first met. Most of the time I considered her as a nuisance that wouldn't leave. What changed?
Nothing did.
She's still a nuisance and I'm just worried for her Father. He lost his wife and now his daughter. How can I not feel bad? I don't miss her. She's a nuisance I finally got rid of.
So why does it bother me so much?
"I'll be back." I grumble grabbing my keys and walking out of the house.
