It was a Mull-lit day, where dreams awakened and truth's regrets faded away.
"You remember," Starlit murmured, her gaze distant as memories stirred. "As the Additrons flew above, thwarting danger, I see a swashbuckling buccaneer pouncing about my Galactic Rose. That's me—I'm captaining my Rose. I'm at her helm." She smiled softly, her heart swelling with both nostalgia and melancholy. "Oh, Mull, how I missed you so..."
The Mull of Dreams responded. Holographic teardrops fell from the Nebula sky, shimmering like prisms. I missed you too, my Destiny's Maker, the voice whispered, resonating deep within her. Feel the beat of the plains—my heart is joyful today. Your tears fall with mine, but let them be for better times. Forget others' expectations. You are here with me... Yes, my Additron, yes... see, you cast grand visions once more.
Suddenly, darkness fell upon their homecoming sky, casting shadows over the vast estate. "Hurry, my Destiny's Maker, return to your sanctuary. Gate, Wind, Wall—stand ready. Harden the defenses."
The Mull seemed to breathe with Starlit, its pulse steady and alive. The once sprawling green fields, now overgrown with wild jungles, whispered softly in the breeze. Darkened leaves flickered, as though swaying to the rhythm of the estate's heartbeat. The warmth of the Mull washed over her—as a mother would.
As the darkness deepened, shadows crept further across the wilding jungles. The Mull stirred, sensing the emotions Starlit left unsaid. The wind carried its voice again, softer this time, probing deeper into the silence within her
"Did anything different happen when you first arrived back?" it asked, the question slipping through the rustling leaves like a secret.
Starlit's breath caught, the memory crashing into her mind with vivid force. Her return, the Wall, the tests. Baby AI.
"Yeah," she whispered, her voice tight. "A lot was different. That day, I almost didn't make it."
As the echoes of Fate's proclamation faded, Starlit arrived at the stately towering wall of her home. Emotions surged within her. "Who put this here?" she wondered, her eyes scanning the familiar yet altered landscape. Drawing her six-shooter, she sent the "foreclosure" sign back to a state of genesis with a gamma-ray burst, turning it into ashes. "I'm home, Pops?" she called out, her voice triggering life into the dormant wall.
The estate, now cloaked in a blanket of wild, sprawling forests, stretched beyond what Starlit's navigation system could fathom. Waypoints blinked into view, guiding her as she surged upward, leaving the ground—and her past—far behind. Tears welled up in her eyes as she gazed through the shifting scenery, the unfamiliarity etched on her face. Had she really been gone that long?
The towering fortification loomed ahead, a test she had never wanted but always expected. It was a reminder of who she had been, who she still was, but also how much she had changed.
