A job
I desperately need a job.

My landlord called this morning, demanding rent. If I don't pay, she'll evict me.
I'm broke. My subconscious mind nagged, reminding me that I left home without a safety net.

But that's a problem for another time. My priority is finding a job, and fast. I managed to stall the landlord for now, but this charade won't last long."

"Leaving college, I desperately asked friends if they knew of any part-time jobs. But, disappointingly, they all said no. Feeling hopeless, I wandered the streets, unable to afford petrol.

Furious with my life, I refused to resort to asking my father for help. He had warned me I'd return within a month, and I couldn't bear to prove him right. His conditions for assistance were suffocating - absolute obedience.

His possessiveness had often invaded my personal space, but I knew it stemmed from insecurity. When Mom passed away, Dad buried himself in work, neglecting me.

Just then, an unknown number flashed on my phone."

As I read the message, my suspicions grew. How did they know my name, and why was I being offered a job as a personal assistant?

I'm a lawyer, for goodness' sake! But my dwindling bank account left me desperate.
Any job would do!.

Being an assistant couldn't be that difficult, afterall I thought.
Just schedule meetings and manage the CEO's calendar.

But how did I land this role at Asia's most renowned company? The message mentioned qualifications, but I had no idea what they were referring to.

My immediate priority was getting home.

Upon arriving home, I couldn't shake off the feeling that this was an elaborate joke.

To verify the job offer's authenticity, I contacted WYD's communication department. A pleasant female voice greeted me on the other end.

"Hello, WYD Communication Center. How may I assist you?" a formal female voice asked.
