"What's this?" Gracie poked her head out from behind a box, holding up a smaller unlabeled box. My eyes went wide after remembering what was in it. "Give me that-!" I reached over the pile of containers and such that separated us and snatched the box from her. "What's in it?" She raised an eyebrow, startled by my reaction. "Private stuff." She studied my face for a moment before realizing what I meant. "Allison! Are you serious?" I shook my head before I stood up to put the box on my nightstand. "I don't wanna talk about it." Gracie's jaw was slightly open as she stared at me in disbelief. "I didn't know you were that kind of girl." "There's a lot you don't know about me." She grinned, pulling out what remained in the box in front of her.

Me and Gracie met about 3 days ago after learning that we were going to be roommates for the year. She had already settled in, so now she's helping me unpack the rest of my belongings.

"Can I see your schedule for tomorrow?" Gracie got up, walking over to my computer that was open on my bed. She clicked on one of my pinned tabs that had my schedule on it and began looking through it. "Swift? Shit bro, you're lucky." "Huh?" I sat on the edge of the bed next to where she was standing, cocking my head to the side to see what she was talking about. "I had her during my first year. She's honestly she best English teacher I've ever had."

I nodded in acknowledgement, reaching out to turn the computer slightly towards myself so I could see it better.

Gracie finishes skimming the rest of my schedule and then looks up, clearly about to say something but her phone dings suddenly. She looks down at it, reading the notification. "My friends want me to come get coffee with them. Do you wanna join us?" She smiles, stuffing her phone into her pocket.

"Are you they wouldn't mind me tagging along?" I blink at her, a bit nervous that I'd be a burden.

"Not at all! C'mon." She grabs my hand, pulling me out of the bedroom.

Me and Gracie arrived at the coffee coffee shop about 7 minutes later. It wasn't far from the college since this is a pretty small town. Gracie's eyes lighten up as she spots her friends standing next to a table inside. We walk over to them, Gracie greeting both of them with a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

I smile sheepishly as she introduces them both.

"This Olivia," she gestures to the dark-haired girl before placing a hand on the blonde's shoulder. "and this is Sabrina!"

Sabrina holds out her hand for me to shake while Olivia politely waves. I shake Sabrina's hand, feeling much calmer than earlier.

"Once we order our drinks I was thinking we should walk around the campus a bit, since I know this is you and Liv's first year." Gracie suggested, turning to get a look at the line behind us.

We all agreed and went to order, getting our drinks and heading to Gracie's car.

The four of us are walking down one of the hallways on campus when suddenly Gracie and Sabrina stop to show me and Olivia a poster about some clubs and other fun things that we could sign up for. Coincidentally, the posters happened to be right next to the same room of the teacher that Gracie pointed out on my schedule. I nodded along to everything Gracie and Sabrina were saying, but honestly I was distracted by wanting to match a face to the supposed great English teacher that Gracie was praising earlier.

I took a few steps away from the other three to peek into the half opened door that we were standing next to.

Almost immediately, a tall blonde stood at a desk in the front of the room caught my eye. She was seemingly grabbing a pile of papers, trying to balance them all in her arms with the rest of the paperwork she was carrying.

Bloody hell, she's beautiful. I know Gracie said she was a good teacher but she never mentioned her also being hot as fuck.

As I'm staring at her, she suddenly looks up, straight in my direction. We lock eyes, and I can see the electric blue color of hers from here despite being so far away.

"Allison?"

Gracie calls my name, noticing that I haven't been paying attention to a single word they've said. I quickly turn my head, meeting Gracie's gaze. "Sorry, got distracted."

My apology seems to satisfy her since she goes back to explaining whatever she was talking about. I try paying attention but I find myself looking back into the classroom, only to be disappointed at the sight of no one.

I turn back to the others, the image of the blonde's gaze still frozen in my mind.

"See ya tomorrow!" Sabrina and Olivia waved to me and Gracie as we walked away, heading back to Gracie's car.

We spent about another hour walking around before deciding to call it a night since me and Gracie were hungry and had plans to watch Bottoms tonight. Despite trying to forget about the incident that occurred earlier, the scene kept replaying in my head over and over again. Honestly, it felt like torture.

I thought about telling Gracie, thinking it would clear my mind, but decided against it for now. Maybe another day.

Putting that aside, me and Gracie were now currently driving to Taco Bell for dinner. Basic, I know. But when you're two unemployed girls in college, there's not much you can afford. We both ordered, honestly getting enough food to feed a family of 5. Since we ordered so much, we both knew it was going to take a while.

"I don't wanna wait any longerrrr, I'm hungry!" Gracie whined, slurring her words. We were both tired, but food was more important.

"Why are there so many people here though, it's literally eight pm." I sighed, leaning back into the passenger seat. "Right? I just want my food." She did the opposite of me and leaned forward, resting her chin on the steering wheel.

A small moment of silence followed after our short conversation, making it awkward.

"Y'know, I've told you about so many of my side hustles, what about you?" I spoke up, filling the silence. Gracie looked down like she was thinking for a second, letting out a small huff. "I play guitar at bars sometimes. It's nothing special but I get good tips from playing 80s shit for the divorced drunks." She chuckles at her own words before looking over at me, searching for a response. "Do you ever write your own music?"

She seems almost surprised at my question. "Uh.. yeah actually, I do." I smile warmly, tilting my head a bit. "You should show me sometime." She grins, looking back down while nodding.

After a few more minutes of talking, we finally get our food and start driving to our dorm, screaming along to Paramore all the way back.
